Synopsis via Goodreads:
Olympic rings and an engagement ring.
Courtney Carlton is ready for both.
She and her boyfriend Josh have skated together and dated for four years, and they’ve reached a critical point in their partnership both on and off the ice. With the Winter Games coming up and their career nearing an end, they are fighting to win a spot on the Olympic team, something Courtney has dreamed of since she was ten years old.
She also has another wish she hopes comes true soon. She’s waiting for a marriage proposal from Josh that she expected to happen by now. Will she realize either dream or will her heart be broken from disappointment?
My Review:
What a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy! I can't imagine dedicating my whole life for years and years to one goal, one impossible dream, yet that's exactly what Josh and Courtney have done. They've trained in ice skating for most of their lives with the dream of making it to the Olympics. This is their last shot to fulfill their dream.
I love the way this author is able to convey the emotions that go along with such an intense sport. I felt like I was right there with them, or more accurately, right there inside of Courtney's mind, since it is told from her point of view. The thoughts she has and intuitions about her skating are so very real.
As with any sport, these two have a life outside of the rink and it's full of drama. Since they've been dating for years, Courtney is expecting and hoping for a wedding ring, along with the Olympic rings. I love the chemistry between them and the connection they have on the ice. I also love that this isn't a perfect story. There are many things that set them back and challenge them, both on and off of the ice. I love how protective they are of one another.
I've loved Josh and Courtney's journey and look forward to what Ms. Comeaux comes up with next.
Content: mild language; mild violence (injuries); moderate romantic situations (kissing, sometimes intense; you know what's happening, but it's behind closed doors--fade to black scenes). Clean for an older reader!
