A world-renowned extreme athlete. A motivational speaker and philanthropist. He thinks they're a match destined for heaven. She's convinced they're polar opposites.

Bridger Hawk has been in love with Avalyn Shaman since childhood. He knows he'll never be worthy of her charitable heart so he throws himself into a life-threatening extreme sports career. When they reconnect at his brother's wedding, he can't resist kissing her at every opportunity. She demands he stay away from her and her heart. After multiple rejections, he gathers what's left of his pride and leaves.

Avalyn has always loved Bridger but he shredded her heart in high school and she knows given a chance, he'll do it again. When she's kidnapped and forced to be the pawn and prize in dangerous events that risk her life and her virtue, Bridger is forced to compete in the deranged challenges and is the only hope she has to survive. Can Bridger win and prove to her that his love isn't just a show for his fans?
Bridger knows he has to save Avalyn at all costs ... even if it means he can't have her.

My Review: 5 Stars

It's true that this story is a little over-the-top at times, but it got my heart pounding (in more ways than one) and was a totally fun escape! This was just what I needed to disappear into on a cold Saturday afternoon. There's no such thing as too much kissing, right? 😉

Bridger seems to have absolutely no fear of anything. In fact, when he sees his long-time crush at his brother's wedding, he walks right up and kisses her. Talk about sweeping someone (me) off her feet! He's gorgeous and he's a playboy, but when it comes right down to it, he's been madly in love with Avalyn for years. She just can't accept that someone like him would go for someone like her. Although Bridger is a player and doesn't take things seriously, he's loyal and dedicated to what really matters and I loved that about him.

When Ramsey, Bridger's completely certifiably insane friend, issues the ultimate challenge, with Avalyn as the pawn/prize, all bets are off. This time was full of crazy danger, thrilling intense situations, and swoony sparks.

I honestly can't imagine enduring even half of the stunts that Bridger and Avalyn go through. I'm a homebody and chicken at heart, I guess, but it was satisfying to take some vicarious risks through these characters.

Content: some light innuendo; mild+ swoony romance (kissing); a lot of dangerous stunt elements; very mild religion

"I'm coming home...With my bride-to-be." Tyler Blackwell just announced that he and Hadley Sullivan are getting married. And they've never even dated! Now she and her boss are in Montana so Tyler can sell his family ranch. Hadley only agreed to continue the deception in exchange for a promotion. But moving up the corporate ladder pales beside her growing feelings for Tyler. Will his past and Blackwell family secrets sabotage what Hadley wants more than anything--a real wedding?

My Review: 5 Stars

Timing is everything and sometimes what you want and need has been sitting right under your nose all along. At least that's what Tyler discovers when he blurts out that he's engaged to avoid going home to the family ranch. He drags is employee, Hadley, along in this harebrained scheme and as the lies tangle together like a massive ball of unruly yarn, true feelings begin to emerge.

Tyler is all work, every day, yet he gets the job done well. Although he's a fantastic businessman, his true calling seems to be that of a rancher. Every time I read about this type of hardworking manly man in this setting, I have a hankering to end up on a ranch. The slower pace is very enticing and although it's a lot of physical work, the mental pace is a breath of fresh air.

I loved Tyler and Hadley individual, but together? They complement each other better than peanut butter and chocolate. Their strengths and weaknesses play each other's opposites up and force them to become better....more.

I'm a huge fan of the fake fiance/fiancee angle and thought this one played out in a very believable, charming, and adorable way. I also like how each brother's story is told by a different author and I need to go get my hands on those books now, because I loved what I saw of this interesting family.

WHO IS THE AUTHOR?

When Jade Lockwood begins to receive anonymous love letters, she becomes a woman on a mission.

She’s determined to figure out who wrote the flowery, over-the-top letters filled with the sweetest violin words she’s ever heard.

She’s neglected her love life, concentrating on Lockwood Cabins, the business her father built from the ground up. But her sweet letters have awakened something inside of her, something that can’t be ignored.

Facing Christmas alone this year, her emotions are already fragile. Add in a mysterious burglary, a handsome stranger, and a little deceit, and it just might be the most eventful Christmas she’s ever endured.

Will Jade find her happy ending? Or will her love letters prove to be nothing more than a sinister ploy?

Find out in this charming Christmas novel.
My Review: 5 Stars

This charming Christmas tale is a throwback to sweet and simpler times. Jade is a woman driven by devotion to her father's dream and with her parents gone, she throws herself into carrying on their business. The Lockwood Cabins sound divine, with a beautifully secluded location and a homegrown touch of goodness. In fact, these cabins have captured every moment of Jade's life. When very sweet, secret, handwritten love letters start arriving for her, the romance in her is awakened and every man she knows is a suspect.

Jade embodies the nostalgia of the Christmas season. She embraces and thrives on the structure of tradition. The romance that blossoms was so perfectly sugary sweet and swoony, but as with any great story, it wasn't without its hardships, which makes it all the more sweet.

Ms. Dean has a way with words that struck a chord deep in my soul and resonated with me. Violin words. She fully captured the personality of characters, bringing them to life in a very dimensional and realistic way, and I enjoy every minute of every page.

Ten strangers. Six days in paradise. One unforgettable Christmas.

Hailey Walsh has always loved Christmas, and this year the holiday was supposed to be the most magical of all, spent with her large family and her fiancé in preparation for their wedding just two days after. Then Gage broke their engagement.

Now, instead of playing in the snow with her nieces and nephews, Hailey’s building a playground with children she’s never met before, spending her Christmas with strangers in Hawaii, on a service program she hopes will lift her spirits and help her begin to pick up the broken pieces of her life and heart.

Gage Stevens didn’t want to spend Christmas in Hawaii any more than he wanted to break his engagement, but sometimes fate has a way of slamming a guy against a wall and forcing him to tough decisions— for the good of others, be that his ex-fiancée or his mom. And while he’s certain that no ocean breeze or tropical wonderland can heal what’s wrong, one glimpse at a familiar head of red hair and Gage realizes fate may not be done with him yet.

My Review: 4 Stars

If you give me Hawaii, even in a book, I'm there! Having read this author's books before, I knew I was in for a sweet treat and I wasn't disappointed, but I was surprised. Honestly, I only read the first sentence of the blurb and wasn't expecting what this book delivered. I wasn't expecting a deep story full of forgiveness, pain, sacrifice, service, and love, all set in a tropical location; I was expecting pure fluff.

Hailey's heart has been smashed and in an effort to move on, she goes on a Hawaiian holiday retreat, but she's in for a surprise when she gets there. This rag-tag group of people, who are all dealing with difficult situations, manages to form a bond with each other, while coping with their lots in life and serving the orphans of Hawaii for Christmas.

I love the growth that Hailey goes through and the experiences she has to help her develop a firm grasp of what matters in life. The friends she makes and the way she interacts with them is so heartening and sweet. And the way this book wraps up warmed my heart. This is a wonderful Christmas offering.

Who said mistakes have to be bad?

It’s Christmas break and I’m alone. My best friend is off with the dance team to the Bahama’s and I’m at home, trying to pad my college application by volunteering with Safety Net Mentors, a program that pairs teens with kids in need—and if I finally get to talk to my life-long crush, I’m okay with that.

Everything is going according to plan until I discover that not only is my ex-best friend, Grayson back, but he’s also volunteering. And we get paired with siblings.

Great.

I not only have to talk to him but I have to spend time with him and his mentee. Which seems doable as long as neither of us bring up the past.

Which seems harder to do than say.

Now I’m so confused, I can’t keep my mind straight. There’s something Grayson isn’t telling me and feelings that creep up that weren’t there before.

And I don't know what to do when what felt like the biggest Christmas break mistake doesn’t feel that was anymore. If only I could figure out what everything meant, I just might survive with my heart intact.

My Review: 4 Stars

Ellie's Christmas break isn't exactly shaping up to be as she pictured it. In an effort to get into an Ivy League college, she's home volunteering and her new partner in crime is her ex-best friend. Grayson left her without a word and is back now and she's not sure she can forgive him, especially as he continues to hold his secrets.

Christmas is a magical time, as is apparent in this story. Not only are Ellie and Grayson able to help these young siblings that they mentor while they're mom is dealing with rehab, but the ice is melting around Ellie's heart. Magic is shown in love and forgiveness, acceptance and hope, sweet romance, and most of all, in service. I love those little obvious and subliminal messages that appear throughout the story. This one is a sweet, tender one!

My Review: 4 Stars

Christmas, chocolate, and romance...there's not much left that's needed to deliver a holiday romance. Katie has turned chocolate into an art and I could almost taste her creations, but she's working way too hard to be everything for everyone close to her. I loved how Katie met Markus and how he immediately set out to help. He's got a very big heart, and looks to match his genuine and giving personality.

This Christmas story has a little bit of everything to make it more than just pure fluff, and my favorite thing was the miracle of hearts softening. What a sweet thing! I especially adored the characters and the setting, but really wished that Katie wasn't quite so stubborn. Let it go, Katie...let it go.

She’s a big-city corporate hot-shot who’s lucky in business, but unlucky in love. He’s a handsome small-town hero who’s all heart but has a secret. Can he melt her icy exterior, and restore her faith in a happily-ever-after—or is she forever doomed to spend Christmas alone?

Revé Chatham sure knows how to pick 'em. After two failed engagements, she thought she finally found “the one,” only to have another promising relationship end—this time in a very public disaster just before the holidays. Now she despairs of ever having her heart's desire—a kiss that takes her breath away, from a man who truly loves her and wants to build a future with her.

Faced with a choice between spending Christmas in India with nosy family members—who will no doubt rehash her failed love life—or in warm, smoggy LA alone, Revé goes with a third option. She leaves the big city behind for a small-town holiday getaway. It’s the perfect way to quietly put the pieces of her heart back together.

Of course, she doesn’t count on meeting Logan Redmond. Kind-hearted, genuine, and ruggedly handsome, the more time she spends with the cowboy charmer, the more she remembers who she really is, and what Christmas is really all about. She begins to fall for him, but catches herself just in time. Their worlds are too different, and she can’t trust her own judgment.

Will she play it safe, and go back to her lonely city life, or risk her heart once again for the future she longs for?
My Review: 4 Stars

I love a story with some unique qualities. After witnessing a devastating scene involving her almost fiance, Revé decides that a trip to New Mexico for Christmas is in order, instead of her traditional trek with her family to India, to spend the holiday with her extended family. And let's not forget that it's Revé whose family is very well off--but you'd never know it.

When Revé and her friend, Carmen, literally bump into Logan, everything changes. I really enjoyed the classic events that revolved around the Christmas celebrations in this desert town. I loved the established routines that Revé fell into so easily and naturally. But most of all, I loved the sudden romantic current that develops, and especially the role that The Princess Bride played in making those sparks fan into a flame.

This is another Hallmark Christmas movie kind of book!

The future always looks brighter at Christmas
While Scarlett Ambrose works her PR magic landing Alaska on the nice Christmas spirit list, her wedding plans and a longing for Arizona’s heat have to wait. But when the wait’s too long will a warm-hearted doctor in town for his own reasons be just the prescription for lifting her cold, Scrooge-like spirit?

My Review: 4.5 Stars

I don't like to be cold and I've always lived in a place that gets winter. Scarlett from Arizona is in Alaska for a time, working on a campaign to help them find their Christmas spirit. I loved the temperature comparisons at the beginning of each chapter and could almost feel the cold seeping in as time draws closer to Christmas. I found it interesting that Scarlett's own holiday spirit was almost as icy as the air outside, but the friendships and relationships that are formed in this cold land warm the heart almost as well as the hot, arid heat of the desert.

As Scroogy as Scarlett is, she is one dedicated, persistent, and loyal lady, which is perfect for getting the job done and doing it well, even at the cost of staying extra time in a place she's not in love with. I enjoyed seeing the ways that Alaska warmed her heart and loved watching Christmas come together.

Of course, the romance was tender, sweet, and gradual. The texts analyzing proposals were great fun and brought hopes and dreams to life. This is a fun story that will bring the Christmas spirit right into your heart.

He needs this job to honor his late wife. She needs to complete her late fiancé’s bucket list to be free.
Former action-movie star Chet has counted the days since he lost his wife last New Year’s Eve almost a year ago. When he’s given a shot at starring in a reboot of her favorite TV show, he jumps at it. But there’s a catch: the producers won’t hire him unless he can prove he’s regained emotional stability—by bringing a steady girlfriend to his five auditions.

Which means: five mandatory dates for this bereft widower.

Social worker Holly lost her fiancé to war. With his good life snuffed out too soon, she feels compelled to finish his bucket list of unselfish deeds. But four years later, several remain, and they’re ridiculously impossible. Until she accomplishes her soldier’s dreams, she can’t even consider moving on with her life.

When they meet on the beach at Getaway Bay, what she doesn’t know is homeless-looking mourner Chet is actually Colt Winchester, screen star and fashion icon. What he doesn’t know is that he’s a means to an end.

When their walls start to crumble on their Christmas season dates, can these two find love again, or will they forever be chasing ghosts?
Escape to Getaway Bay and join the Clean Billionaire Beach Club for some seriously sweet romance.

Each book can be read as a standalone, with a happily-ever-after ending, and clean, sweet-without-losing-the-heat romance!

My Review: 5 Stars

It's not a secret that I love a fun celebrity story, especially when a "normal" person is involved. Holly has basically given up to life to fulfill the items on her deceased fiance's bucket list and this list causes her to be a very selfless woman, which is what leads her to talk to Chet. He is a man who is very down on life after his wife of a dozen years passed away.

I fell so in love with the setting that I actually tried to find where Getaway Bay is so I can add it to my bucket list. But my big love was the characters. Chet and Holly have a larger-than-life romance that blossoms from out of nowhere, yet develops in a very natural and sweet way, albeit fairly quickly. I love how they each help and complement the other and are willing to do whatever it takes to assist in their individual healing. That bucket list really added a fun dimension to the story and brought Chet and Holly closer together. I was laughing out loud in several places, earning me a few strange looks from my husband.

The swoon was alive and well in this story! Jennifer Griffith has a knack for developing a very realistic and butterfly-inducing romance that resonates deep in my soul. The chemistry ignited flames in my heart that weren't easily put out, even when they weren't kissing. But their relationship is also more than physical, which made it impossible to discount. I was rooting for them from the start.

12 Days of Clean Romance: Author Rachael Anderson

My Brother’s Bride by Rachael Anderson

Abigail Nash leads a lonely existence. Her mother died giving birth to her, her father’s business dealings took him away more often than not, and her ailing great-aunt, unable to provide much in the way of companionship, was a lack-luster guardian at best. So when her dear friends offered to launch her into London society, it appeared Abby’s life was taking a turn for the better, with suitors and social engagements aplenty. When she marries a proclaimed darling of the ton, it seems she will at last settle into the life of her dreams.

But appearances aren’t always what they seem, and dreams often become disappointments.

Just months into her marriage, Abby finds herself widowed, penniless, increasing, and determined to never hope again. But when her late husband’s brother, the Earl of Brigston, attempts to thaw the numbness surrounding her heart, Abby must decide if she has it in her to risk another chance at happiness, knowing the odds are not in her favor.

I haven't read a book by Rachael Anderson that I didn't absolutely love and this awesome book didn't fail to meet that grade. ~Vicki

This forbidden Regency romance was excellent! Once I started, it was hard—almost impossible—to put down. ~Charissa

This is the first full-length novel I've read by Rachael Anderson, but it definitely won't be the last. I really enjoyed the story--the writing was really good with no annoying parts or awkwardness, the plot was interesting, the characters were endearing (I loved the banter between Brigtson and Abby!), and this book was just really good. Highly enjoyable. Great choice for those who like clean, well-written Regency romances. ~AE2

This is a wonderful story for anyone who enjoys a clever and heart-warming historical tale that will leave them with a smile on their face. ~Phyllis

ETHAN
“FILL THESE OUT, PLEASE.” The nurse at the ER admin desk
shoved a clipboard holding a stack of insurance forms into
my hands. “Once we get your partner stabilized, I’ll go find
out about sending you in to see her.” She gave me a curt nod
and disappeared behind the desk.
What had I been thinking? I hadn’t been thinking. Not
much beyond getting my neighbor here in time. I had been
living next door to Ainsley for the last six months, ever since
the construction on my house was completed. And I had
noticed her from day one. Who wouldn’t, with her striking
blue eyes, long blonde hair, and a body every man dreams of?
But there was more. She had this frailty about her, if you
looked close enough. And it drew me in, right from the start.
But she never let me get further than a few pleasantries. Still,
it didn’t stop me from trying. And I had tried to be her
friend.
When I found her earlier today… I shuddered as the
memory washed over me.
I clutched the letter in my hand, secretly happy I had an excuse to
ring Ainsley’s doorbell. The mailman had messed up and I
couldn’t let the opportunity slide, noting her car in the driveway.
Walking up to the door, I rolled my shoulders and took a deep
breath, aiming for cool and suave, not flustered and eager like she
had me feeling each time I caught a glimpse of her.
I rang the bell and turned to soak up the bright rays of sun,
feeling my stomach knot as the anticipation rose. A few seconds
passed, but no one came to open the door.
I turned to ring the bell again, sure she was home, when I
stopped dead in my tracks, my hand still suspended in the air. My
heart started pounding in my chest as the ground beneath me felt
like it was moving.
“Ainsley! Ainsley!” I pounded on the door, her lifeless body
sprawled on the floor in the hallway just visible through the
sidelights. My palms felt moist as I fought against the rising
panic.
“Ainsley!!” My voice was hoarse as I belted out her name over
and over.
Instinct took over. I ran to the back door and found it
unlocked. I hadn’t ever let myself in, but now wasn’t the time to
worry about that.
“Ainsley!” I fell on my knees next to her, taking in the full
scene. Her chest was barely moving, her lips a faint shade of blue.
An empty pill bottle lay on the floor beside her. I picked it up,
already sure of what was going on but needing to confirm it.
Time seemed to stand still as I pieced it all together, but the loud,
ringing sound in my ears forced me to move and get help.
“Ainsley, what have you done?” I cried as I slipped my phone
out of my back pocket and called 911. I hoped I wasn’t too late,
that we still had time.
“What happened?” One of the paramedics loaded her on a
gurney while the other got to work checking her vitals. I rehashed
all I knew, which wasn’t very much.
They loaded her in the ambulance, and after getting the right
info about where they were taking her, I sped over to the hospital
in record time.
“What’s your relationship to the patient?” The ER clerk typed
in Ainsley’s name without making eye contact.
“I don’t see how that’s important now,” I growled.
“Only the next of kin can see the patient.” She looked up for
the first time and took in my panicked state.
“I’m her…boyfriend.” Where did that come from? I didn’t even
know her that well, but I couldn’t take it back now.
“I see.” The woman stared up at me over her wide-rimmed
glasses, pausing as she studied me. Did she pick up on my
hesitation? Did she detect the lie?
“Please take a seat. I’ll have her paperwork ready in just
a sec.”
I released the breath I held and dropped down in the vinyl
seat, overcome by the events of the past hour.
I’d been waiting for over two hours, and I was frantic. I
didn’t do so well in a hospital setting.
“Mr. Van Der Beek?” A doctor dressed in light blue scrubs
walked into the waiting area. I stood up.
“Yes?” My heart beat double time, waiting for him to give
me news on Ainsley.
“We were able to stabilize your girlfriend.” The word
made me wince. The doctor luckily mistook it for the info he
was delivering, and his expression softened, his eyes full of
sympathy. “Ainsley experienced respiratory depression, and
we needed to intubate her to ensure she was getting enough
oxygen.”
I swallowed the bile rising in my throat and nodded my
understanding.
“We’ll keep her in the ICU until she gains consciousness.”
“But she’s going to be okay?” I pleaded.
“We’ll know for sure tomorrow. I think you got to her in
time.” He patted me on the shoulder and turned to leave but
reconsidered.
“Mr. Van Der Beek.” He stared into my eyes.
“Yes?” I felt the weight of the day settle on my shoulders.
“Your girlfriend is very sick. Even if she makes a full
physical recovery, you have a long road ahead of you.”
I nodded, my eyes stinging. “Thank you, Doctor.” I sank
onto one of the chairs lining the side of the waiting area. If
anyone knew how long that road was, it was me.

A heartfelt romance with a powerful message about the sanctity of human life. If you’ve ever simply needed a friend, The Songs That Brought Me Back will resonate–and leave you thankful for the people in your life. -Taylor Dean, author of I’m With You and Chasing Fireflies.

Another remarkable read by Mylissa Demeyere. Ethan and Ainsley had me laughing and crying as they face their own demons and fall in love while doing it. This book adds even more depth as it confronts suicide head on. Suicide has become an epidemic that some are afraid to address; Demeyere brings it to light from both the victims and the survivors giving us insight on the struggles of so many. It does not disappoint and I, again, am excited to see what comes next from this talented writer. – Amazon Reviewer

A beautiful sequel to The Songs of You and Me that cleverly illustrates that there are always two sides to every story and that it is never too late for love to overcome any challenge. – Amazon Reviewer

“This poignant redemption story about second chances and forgiveness yanked my emotions all over the place. I cried, I yearned, I hoped. A beautiful story about what true love is and does.” – Charissa Stastny, author of Between Hope and the Highway and The Ruled Out Romance Series
