Cover Reveal: All That Really Matters by Nicole Deese

All That Really Matters by Nicole Deese COVER REVEAL
Coming....Spring 2021

Molly McKenzie's bright personality and on-trend fashion and beauty advice have earned her an impressive social media following, as well as a shiny monthly paycheck. When her manager-turned-boyfriend tells her of an upcoming audition to host a makeover show for America’s underprivileged youth, all her dreams finally seem to be coming true. There's just one catch: she has little experience interacting with people in need.

To gain an edge on her competitors, she applies to volunteer at a transitional program for aged-out foster kids during summer, only the program's director, Silas Whittaker, isn’t nearly as charmed by Molly as her online fans. But since forfeiting a goal has never been her style, Molly’s only option is to accept the terms Silas lays out and submit to his rules—even the most ridiculous ones pertaining to social media.

But as the residents of the home become more than a means to pad her career resume, and Silas becomes more than an obstacle on her path to fame, her once-narrow focus expands to include the deep needs of those she’s serving… and perhaps the ones she’s neglected inside herself as well. It took years to build her platform, but only one summer to discover what really matters most..

At sixteen, Hadley Moore knows exactly who she is—a swimmer who will earn a scholarship to college. Totally worth all the hard work, even if her aching shoulders don’t agree. So when a guy dressed as Hollywood’s latest action hero, Heath Hall, crashes her swim meet, she isn’t amused. Instead, she’s determined to make sure he doesn’t bother her again. Only she’s not sure exactly who he is.

The swim meet isn’t the first event the imposter has interrupted, but a little digging turns up a surprising number of people who could be Heath Hall, including Hadley's ex-boyfriend and her best friend’s crush. She soon finds herself getting caught up in the mysterious world of the fake Heath Hall.

As Hadley gets closer to uncovering the masked boy’s identity she also discovers some uncomfortable truths about herself—like she might resent the long shadow her late brother has cast over her family, that she isn’t as happy as she pretends to be with her life choices… and that she is falling for the last guy she ever thought she would like.

My Review: 4 Stars

How many 16 year olds know exactly what they want in life? My guess is not a ton, but Hadley sure does. When a masked action hero crashes her swim meet, she finds herself smack in the middle of a mystery that won't leave her alone.

I loved the dangling mystery element and the way Hadley sets out to solve it, but Kasie West is a genius at allowing her characters to struggle and grow. This coming-of-age story tugs at the heartstrings and takes the reader on a delightful journey of self-discovery, as the characters are brought to life.

I really enjoyed this book and the way it all came together in both expected and unexpected ways.

My Review: 4 Stars

I've really enjoyed this series and love how each sibling gets a story of his or her own. It was a treat to see glimpses of the family and to check in with them to see how they're doing. I absolutely loved how they rally together in tough times and the murder of the eldest sister's husband, with her as the prime suspect, is definitely a good reason.

Margaret comes across as cold, but there's definitely more to her than that mask. Watching her spark to life, especially with Connor Jackson, was entertaining and my favorite moments were the forbidden attraction, moments of danger, and loyalty. Things were a lot different in this time and it was harder for different classes to mesh. Both Margaret and Connor had challenges and weaknesses to overcome and they each tackled them in realistic ways.

I felt like I was in the game of Clue at times, although we know where and with what weapon the murder took place. I loved the cat-and-mouse mystery and watching the puzzle pieces slip into place, and I thought this element was well done.

This is a story for lovers of intrigue and romance to settle in with, with its thrilling plot and enchanting characters.

He left her behind. She's spent years ignoring him. But some things can never be forgotten.

Knox Prosper knows he can never go back in time and correct his mistakes, so he has to find a way to move forward, and start a new life. Become a better man, and a father, if only for his young daughter. His regrets have taught him to simplify and to focus on what’s real and important. Returning to his hometown to ride in the rodeo gives him a chance to spend time with his daughter and to continue mending bridges with the rest of his family. But what he doesn’t expect is to run into Jana Harris—the first woman he loved—the woman who faded from his life years before because Knox continued to mess up one thing after another. Someone as good and as sweet as Jana is the last person he deserves. Hope is dangerous. And hope can break his heart once again. Yet Jana might be the one person with the power to redeem his past once and for all.

My Review: 5 Stars

I'm always impressed when an author can write many, many books and multiple series and still have characters whose voices are fresh and not clones of each other, with only a different name, in a different place. Heather B. Moore manages to deliver a beautiful story that warmed my heart and soul with its wonderfully flawed characters and potent second chance romance.

Rodeo bad boy, Knox, is back in town and is finally ready to face his future head-on. I loved how he knows he can't change the past, but he can be a new man going forward, and his determination to make amends with his high school girlfriend, Jana, stole the show. I coudln't get enough of their interactions and their personalities, insecurities, and feelings were vividly portrayed on the pages in a way that brought them to life.

This charming Texas town of Prosper has rooted itself deep within me and each book builds upon the foundation of this small town and its wonderful citizens. I love a good story of redemption, second chances, and a spicy clean romance to spin my spurs, and this one achieves all that and more. Prosper--I'll be back and I can't wait!

Silas broke her heart when he left two years ago.
Now he’s back and wants to pick up where they left off.

Miriam loves working for the local professional arena soccer team. She’s gearing up for the Storm’s best season yet but the new lineup has one major problem—Silas Jenkins. The guy who broke her heart has returned, and she’ll have to play nice or risk losing her dream job.

Silas made the biggest mistake of his life two years when he signed with a rival soccer team in hopes of pushing his career to the next level. He realized too late that he left the love of his life behind. Now, he’s trying to make things right. But between adoring fans and teammates with a grudge, he'll be lucky if Miriam gives him the time of day.

When Miriam and Silas are thrown together for outreach events, will old feelings be rekindled?
Or is Silas doomed to the penalty box forever?

My Review: 4 Stars
A good second chance romance is always a hit, especially when things ended on bad terms and the characters are pretty much enemies now. Silas broke Miriam's heart, but he's back now and is a changed man. He sure has his work cut out for him to win her over though.

I loved the way this author ties sports with love and they are merged together in a way that one doesn't overpower the other, yet the reader is satisfied with both. I loved getting to know this team and more bout arena soccer, and hope to read stories about each one of the team members. I'm definitely intrigued and I love Tirrell's writing style.

I expected Silas to be a cocky jerk, but watching him settle into his team and new life proved otherwise. Miriam is understandably cautious, and I enjoyed watching true love crack her shell. These characters interested me and I loved watching their story unfold, especially in spite of their challenges. This is definitely a series to read!

Miss Amelia Stalwood may live in London at her absent guardian's townhouse, but she's never actually met any nobility, and instead of aristocrats, her closest friends are servants. Quite by happenstance, she's introduced to the Hawthorne family and their close family friend, Anthony, the reformed marquis of Raeburn. They welcome her into their world, but just as she's beginning to gain some confidence and even suspect she may have caught Anthony's eye, she's blindsided by an unexpected twist in her situation accompanied by nasty rumors. Will she lose her reputation when the world that has only just accepted her turns its back on her, or will she rest in the support of the friends who've become like family and the man who's shared his faith and captured her heart?

My Review: 4 Stars

This is a delightful introduction into the world of the Hawthorne House. An embarrassing first meet is always a lot of fun and with Amelia feeling more comfortable with the servants and Anthony being a reformed rake, this encounter was highly entertaining.

There is a Christian element to this story, which added to the story, but of course, it was the natural progression of the relationship that really stole my heart. This story was endearing, funny, and sweet and really sets the reader up for the series.

Emmeline doesn’t date soccer players.
This rookie’s determined to change her mind.

There’s no other way Emmeline would rather spend her Saturday nights than watching the Storm play. But being a fan is where her love stops. To her, professional athletes are just a bunch of self-absorbed meatheads who don’t know a thing about the real world. She wouldn’t date one for a million bucks.

Between a professional soccer career and a part-time job, Grant is feeling the hustle of being a rookie. Nothing can stop him from reaching his dreams—except an unfortunate injury that puts him on the bench for weeks. It’s not all bad though. There’s a cute girl on the sidelines to keep him company. An amazing, uninterested, off-limits girl that he can’t stop thinking about.

Can Grant convince Emmeline to give him a chance?
Or will he stay out of play and miss his shot?
My Review: 5 Stars

I'm loving all the sports romances that are out right now. I've read football, baseball, hockey, but not soccer...until this series. And I love it so much!

Emmeline has sworn off athletes, but can't keep her eyes off rookie, Grant. Em's older brother, Finn, is ultra protective, but I love their relationship and the way he watches out for his younger sister. She's a teacher and capable of standing on her own two feet, but I love that family dynamic.

Kayla Tirrell writes this story as a romantic sports comedy, which makes it sweet, heartwarming, funny, and oh so romantic. As this couple connects, first through the eyes and then through social media, the reader is swept away and given a front row seat to this soccer romance, which managed to have a few surprises. I loved, loved, loved these characters, the flirting, and watching true love unfold. I'll definitely be back for more love in the arena!

Having worked for Southern Service Paws for a few years now, I like to think I’m prepared for just about any client meeting under the sun. I am dead wrong.

The day I meet with single dad, Jacob Broaden, about potentially matching his daughter with one of our service dogs, I learn a few valuable lessons.

1) Always set my alarm clock.
2) Single dads are way hotter than I previously thought.
3) It is possible to go from fantasizing about kissing someone to wishing they would be run over by a truck in a matter of two minutes.

Unfortunately, I don’t hold that opinion of him for very long. Not when he shows me a different side of himself—one that’s sweet as maple syrup and hot as apple pie fresh out of the oven.

Too bad this guy is so far out of my league that I shouldn’t even be allowed to enter the game. Jake doesn’t seem to get that memo though. And after a few days of working closely with him and his daughter, he starts looking at me with fire in his eyes, making me dream of something I probably shouldn’t…

A family.

"The Match is a feel-good romantic comedy! Perfect for readers who enjoy a sizzling romance without explicit content."

My Review: 5 Stars

Have you ever met someone and instantly felt a BFF connection? That's how I feel about this book. It's like it was written just for me since I connected to it so well. The dialogue, descriptions, and humor settled right into my heart and soul and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect story.

Life is hard right now and I just want a book to sweep me away and distract me, and while this book did just that, it also had some depth and allowed me to experience intense joy, sadness, fear, and the most exquisite, swoony romance ever. I also laughed soooo much. Jake is coming off a bad divorce and Evie is trying to escape the clutches of her super rich and snooty parents. Their first meeting was quite hilarious and the comedic tone for this book was set.

Alternating points-of-view drew me right into the minds of these wonderful characters and gave me glimpses into their thoughts and feelings. I couldn't get enough of this story and of Jake and Evie. And everyone needs a Jo in their lives. I wanted to keep basking in the book all summer long. True perfection from start to finish.

A man changed by war. The woman who loves him. And a secret that could tear them apart.

Edward Rutledge, the newly minted Viscount Carlisle, has come back from war a changed man. The echo of the battlefield and the death of his best friend Marcus haunt him to the point that he decides to break his betrothal to Charlotte---the only woman he’s ever loved.

When he’s summoned home to Hartwell Manor, he comes face-to-face with her. Slowly, her strength and love make him see that he might be able to reclaim what he thought was lost. But when word reaches him that Marcus might not have died in Spain and yet lives, Edward will do anything to bring his friend home. As the mystery deepens, however, Edward is drawn into an intrigue that forces him to confront the demons that have plagued him since he returned to England. Will he have to sacrifice everything he’s built with Charlotte in order to keep her safe?

My Review: 4 Stars

Not only is Edward haunted by the events of the war, but he's also got the added pressure of being the new viscount. These demands cause him to break Charlotte's heart, as he feels he doesn't deserve happiness. Bellon does a great job in not only describing Edward's feelings, but in also bringing his demons to life in a way that isn't too heavy, yet causes the reader to connect with him.

These characters are quite delightful! I love how Charlotte is kind and supportive, especially in the face of a dangerous situation, while Edward is strong, yet vulnerable. I do feel that his about-face happened a tad too quickly, but all in all, it was for the best and added to the story line.

As much as I love fluff, I really enjoyed having some meat to the story. The mystery and resulting matters added an entertaining element and drew me in. It was fun watching the story unfold, the mystery get discovered, and the romance blossom. Nice!

When his best friend’s little sister is hired by the show, he realizes his girlfriend doesn't stand a chance because his feelings for Kate didn’t disappear when she became someone else’s wife.

Kate Dawson has two goals: get her screenplays on the big screen and keep her divorce a secret. So when her new boss insists that she push Drew towards an engagement, she promises to do her best. But she soon discovers that working closely with Drew brings back powerful memories of a fateful night seven years ago that started with a stolen kiss and ended in heartbreak.

With the world watching and the paparazzi around every corner, Drew and Kate must decide whether to follow the rules or allow their hearts to finally have their way.

My Review: 5 Stars

I don't watch The Bachelor, but I love books that incorporate that type of reality show into their story line and this one was great. Drew and Kate grew up together and have lost touch for seven years--until now. He's the billionaire bachelor and I loved seeing how things worked behind the scenes, and wondered how true-to-life it really is.

Drew and Kate have a wonderful connection and their chemistry is off the charts. Corry does a great job in capturing the romantic tension in this steamy clean love story.  I love that Drew and Kate share a past and a solid friendship, which given the mutual attraction, gradually flourishes. There was a surprising depth and emotional element to this book that caught me off guard, since I was expecting pure fluff. Never fear--the fluff and sweetness is still there, but this depth brings about an engaging story that captivated me from start to finish.

My Review: 5 Stars

This isn't the first time I've had the chance to visit Eureka Springs, Arkansas and I'm sure it won't be the last. There's a small society of billionaires who've set up camp in this small Southern town and it was refreshing to discover that down-to-earth Autumn is the one with money. Although she's quite wealthy, she works hard and doesn't put herself above anyone--very humble and sincere. I loved the way a chance encounter with Kian causes her to latch onto him, even with his mischievous actions.

Of course, the romance was my very favorite because I loved the connections and sparks this couple shared, but I also adored the importance placed on family, especially in light of an age-old mystery. And what a fun and inspiring mystery this turned out to be! The way it influenced Autumn's jewelry designs was definitely intriguing.

Hoagland does a great job of bringing all these separate threads together and tying them into a beautiful bouquet of a book. I loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones and I can't wait for more entertainment in Eureka Springs.

When a puppy darts into traffic during her morning coffee run, Missy rushes to save the innocent pooch, only to be rescued herself when gym owner Nick Zambini pulls her out of harm’s way.

Nick is handsome, intelligent and witty, and his smile does crazy things to Missy’s belly. Ignoring her obvious attraction, she discovers their business goals are the same: to help people look and feel their best. When Nick suggests they join forces professionally, Missy is all for that enterprise, but she’s not ready to trust in more.

Will spending time with Nick entice Missy to risk her heart a second time? And will these two workaholics discover the most perfect venture of all is love?

My Review: 4 Stars

Former supermodel, Missy, has been cheated on (and by her fiance, no less), so she's got trust issues. A funny first meet with Nick literally almost knocks her off her feet, but he's all business.

I enjoyed the way Nick was able to worm his way into Missy's life through his business propositions by using charm and attraction. I loved the chemistry that was palpable between this couple and eagerly devoured those passages, but there were a few too many repetitions for me and there were a couple of random occurrences that bothered me a little, as they felt accidental to me.

Hatler always does a great job of bringing a side of humor to her plate of romance and the fun characters are the cherry on top. It's always a tasty treat to immerse myself into one of her stories for an afternoon and this one was no different. This series is comprised of short stories, but they always leave me feeling satisfied. Although there were a few small detours, this was still an enjoyable read.

It was a simple marriage of convenience. Just two years. What could possibly go wrong?

All Nara wanted was to become a fashion designer. That, and an IV full of Diet Coke to feed her favorite addiction. She never thought her father would force her into a marriage of convenience. And who did he choose for her wedded bliss? None other than Derek Marshall, Mr. Stuffy himself.

Derek’s been in love with Nara since they were kids, but he’s always become so tongue-tied around her. He wasn’t like the guys she dated, smooth and confident. No, he was too awkward and nervous. So, when Nara’s father decided it was best if they marry, he readily agreed.

Maybe being forced together for two years would make her see him differently.

A sweet romantic comedy, full of laugh out loud moments and swoony kisses.

My Review: 4 Stars

A marriage of convenience is one of my favorite bookish tropes and I loved how this one had a sliver of love threaded through it. Nara and Derek have known each other since they were kids and now that her father is "forcing" them to get married, they have a chance to get to know each other in a different way.

Nara and Derek are great characters, but I'm definitely more like Derek. He was extremely awkward, not wanting to take risks, expose his heart, sit in the spotlight, or attract any kind of attention. That's me! Because of that, Nara often made me uncomfortable because she was so opposite, so determined to bring a smile to Derek's face, and she wasn't shy in her feelings towards her father. But she was completely intriguing and I absolutely adored watching this "forced" relationship unfold.

I loved the settings for this character driven story and could visualize things in my mind like I was watching a movie. I laughed and swooned, and didn't want this one to end.
