The Billionaire's Stray Heart (Burke Billionaire Romance #2) by Rachelle J. Christensen {Review}

The Billionaire's Stray Heart (Burke Billionaire Romance #2) by Rachelle J. Christensen

Kindle Edition, 198 pages
Published December 16th 2017 by Peachwood Press

One billionaire, a stray puppy, and a beautiful dog trainer discover that love changes everything.

Jordan Burke, billionaire owner of Burke Enterprises doesn’t have time to date. His sister thinks it’s time for him to find love and sets him up with her best friend, but Jordan can’t leave his work behind. After the disastrous date, a stray puppy saves his life, and Jordan meets a woman who makes him rethink his priorities.

Madison is attracted to Jordan from their first meeting but wary of his billionaire status. Despite her fears, she can’t ignore the pounding of her heart and the sparks flying between them or the tender way Jordan has with his new puppy.

Jordan starts to change his life to make room for the woman he loves, but when a business opportunity comes his way, will he be able to keep his resolve or will his heart stray again?

My Review: 4 Stars

A love a good meet-cute and this one was adorable, and as an added bonus, it also involved a mischievous little puppy. Jordan and Madison have an instant attraction and Roxie the pup helps bring them together after that first connection.

Is it possible to be a successful billionaire without being a workaholic? Maybe, but definitely not in Jordan's case. He eats, sleeps, and breaths work, and I love how Roxie and Madison mellow him out, helping him realize there's more to life than work.

Christensen writes some enchanting scenes that involve both that cute (and somewhat destructive) pup and a charming blossoming romance. It was easy to identify with bits and pieces of the characters and to get caught up in their story. What a lovely, light escape!

The Billionaire's (Not So) Fake Engagement by Kimberly Krey {Review}

The Billionaire's (Not So) Fake Engagement (Benton Brothers #5) by Kimberly Krey

Kindle Edition

One little nod.

Just one simple nod under pressure and Burke found himself fake-engaged to a gorgeous country girl who needed a lift.

She cries about cats dying that aren't even hers.
She turns old furniture into beautiful pieces of art.
And she tells her aging grandpa that she's engaged so he'll stop hooking her up with odd guys who come through town.

The crazy thing is, Burke might actually be falling in love with her.

My Review: 5 Stars

The cap on the Benton Brothers series has been placed and it's perfection! Burke is the half brother of the famous family and their acceptance of him is heartening, but what really grasped my heart was unique Justine and the way she lives in the moment and seizes the day, which was apparent from their very first encounter. This meet-cute had me laughing out loud, and things only got better from there.

This fake engagement story set in a small town settled right into my heart--I laughed, I swooned, and even teared up. Both of these characters just want to find their place in life, and to love and be loved. Although their relationship was build on lies, omissions, and half-truths, the intent was pure and I couldn't get enough of the humor and swoon as this sweet story developed.

Ms. Krey does a great job of finalizing this series, tying it all together, while allowing this installment to stand alone. I love her ability to write a romance that's "clean without losing the steam" as these are my favorite kinds of love stories. I loved everything about this one!

Who says opposites attract?

When Janson and Mollie get off on the wrong foot at the bachelor auction, the two never want to see each other again... except they sorta do. In fact neither of them can stop thinking about that night.

Mollie doesn’t know what’s wrong with her. Janson Styles tops her list of most arrogant men—with his wealth, good looks and a bad boy charm that gets him in trouble with the media (not to mention with her) so why isn’t she immune to his sultry smirks?

Janson can’t stop playing with fire. Of course, he's strong enough to withstand the fiery temptation of Mollie Sawyer—not only will he book a ghost tour with that molten hot redhead, but he’ll also bring a date! It doesn’t help that the moment he sees Mollie, he loses his head again.

Now they're both in for the night of their lives, fighting attraction and unexpected dangers, while everything that can possibly go wrong does—but in all the right ways. After all, can they really be such opposites when they fit so well in each other’s arms?

My Review: 5 Stars

I've dabbled in this series and love this quirky small town in Arkansas that's quickly becoming the home to a crew of billionaires. I'm a seasonal reader and I loved that Halloween plays such a big part in this community, since that holiday is coming up later this month. The whole town turns out for events such as zombie crawls and parades, and more and I was bewitched.

Mollie is a bit bizarre, leading ghost tours for a living, and the walls she has up around her heart and soul are higher than New York City skyscrapers. Her first encounter with Janson, a half Brazilian billionaire, was highly entertaining, as they are complete opposites and the snark is high. But those cutting barbs quickly led to a fibril of attraction--be still my heart. The crazy danger that happened during Janson's personal ghost tour had the hairs standing up on my arms and the butterflies swarming in my stomach.

I loved the descriptions of the celebration, but most of all, I loved these characters and the fragments of their brokenness. The whole story was peculiar, in a good way, and I couldn't get enough of the swoon and action. Serious swoon with this one!

Her Billionaire's Murder Mystery by Stephanie Fowers {Review}

Her Billionaire's Murder Mystery (Billionaire Bachelor Mountain Cove Book 14) by Stephanie Fowers

Kindle Edition

The mystery holds the clues to their hearts.

Aaron Mills has buried his aching heart for years under a charming façade. Success and money can never replace what he lost so many years ago.

Charlize Dean has her hands full keeping her mother from getting banned from Bingo night in their small town of Eureka Springs. When she gets roped into playing a flapper for a weeklong ‘20s Murder Mystery at the hotel where she works, the last thing on her mind is getting mixed up with the charity event’s gorgeous sponsor—no matter how blue Aaron’s eyes are.

Aaron can hardly believe he’s falling for his leading lady, and worse, he can’t prove to Charlize he’s not a “player.” When the mystery of the game turns a little too real, can they forget their growing attraction to solve a forgotten crime or is love in the script too?

My Review: 4 Stars

I loved going to Murder Mystery parties back in high school and college, and it was fun to revisit those times through this book. Billionaire Aaron hosts a party with his friends and hotel worker, Charlize, is coerced into playing a part. Sparks fly in this game, especially when the heat is turned up and it's hard to tell what's real and what's not.

It was super fun to have the element of mystery threaded throughout this charming romance. Jealousy doesn't look too good on Charly, but it was fun to figure out who the characters were, how they related to Aaron, and how good of actors they each were. Aaron is who is he is with good reason, and I loved watching his backstory unfold through the eyes of Charly.

All in all, this slightly chaotic story was a throwback to the past and was so much fun to be a part of. Billionaire Bachelor Mountain Cove is becoming a very cherished small town book destination.

Billionaire Duke Benton, the last bachelor standing among the Benton Brothers, has a second chance at romance with a woman from his past. The one woman he regrets letting go of. But can he keep her in his grip this time?

My Review: 5 Stars

Krey does a great job of forming a heartwarming attachment between two broken characters, bringing them to life with electricity, attraction, and depth.

I was very fortunate to enjoy a vacation in Costa Rica about a month before COVID-19 shut the world down and a part of this book takes place there. Duke has another chance to win over his college sweetheart and what better place to get the sparks ignited than in this tropical location, which I could vividly picture.

I loved that these lovable characters, Duke and Vivi, have a past that they are able to build upon with a palpable connection. I enjoyed the appearances of previous characters and the twist at the end was fantastic. I love how these stories tie together, but can also stand alone. Each one is solid, but together, they're a satisfying tapestry of emotion, loyalty, and love.

The Billionaire Bachelor by Judy Corry {Review}

The Billionaire Bachelor by Judy Corry
Kindle Edition, 300 pages
Published February 2020 by Amazon Digital Services

His best friend’s sister was off limits. But some rules are meant to be broken.

Billionaire Drew Burrows had high hopes of finding love as the bachelor on a reality TV show. Instead, he’s sent home with a "girlfriend" he doesn't really like. When his best friend’s little sister is hired by the show, he realizes his girlfriend doesn't stand a chance because his feelings for Kate didn’t disappear when she became someone else’s wife.

Kate Dawson has two goals: get her screenplays on the big screen and keep her divorce a secret. So when her new boss insists that she push Drew towards an engagement, she promises to do her best. But she soon discovers that working closely with Drew brings back powerful memories of a fateful night seven years ago that started with a stolen kiss and ended in heartbreak.

With the world watching and the paparazzi around every corner, Drew and Kate must decide whether to follow the rules or allow their hearts to finally have their way.

My Review: 5 Stars

I don't watch The Bachelor, but I love books that incorporate that type of reality show into their story line and this one was great. Drew and Kate grew up together and have lost touch for seven years--until now. He's the billionaire bachelor and I loved seeing how things worked behind the scenes, and wondered how true-to-life it really is.

Drew and Kate have a wonderful connection and their chemistry is off the charts. Corry does a great job in capturing the romantic tension in this steamy clean love story.  I love that Drew and Kate share a past and a solid friendship, which given the mutual attraction, gradually flourishes. There was a surprising depth and emotional element to this book that caught me off guard, since I was expecting pure fluff. Never fear--the fluff and sweetness is still there, but this depth brings about an engaging story that captivated me from start to finish.

Her gorgeous downstairs neighbor Kian is willing to help—for a price. Should she trust the Rumpelstiltskin-like ploys of a man with family ties to the mafia? All she wants is to make it through the summer and maybe save her career, not fall in love with a man with ulterior motives.

Just how much is a name worth? Is it worth sacrificing true love to protect it?

♥ Inspired by the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale, this standalone heartwarming novel will bring a little clean, flirty fun to your day! ♥

My Review: 5 Stars

This isn't the first time I've had the chance to visit Eureka Springs, Arkansas and I'm sure it won't be the last. There's a small society of billionaires who've set up camp in this small Southern town and it was refreshing to discover that down-to-earth Autumn is the one with money. Although she's quite wealthy, she works hard and doesn't put herself above anyone--very humble and sincere. I loved the way a chance encounter with Kian causes her to latch onto him, even with his mischievous actions.

Of course, the romance was my very favorite because I loved the connections and sparks this couple shared, but I also adored the importance placed on family, especially in light of an age-old mystery. And what a fun and inspiring mystery this turned out to be! The way it influenced Autumn's jewelry designs was definitely intriguing.

Hoagland does a great job of bringing all these separate threads together and tying them into a beautiful bouquet of a book. I loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones and I can't wait for more entertainment in Eureka Springs.

It was a simple marriage of convenience. Just two years. What could possibly go wrong?

All Nara wanted was to become a fashion designer. That, and an IV full of Diet Coke to feed her favorite addiction. She never thought her father would force her into a marriage of convenience. And who did he choose for her wedded bliss? None other than Derek Marshall, Mr. Stuffy himself.

Derek’s been in love with Nara since they were kids, but he’s always become so tongue-tied around her. He wasn’t like the guys she dated, smooth and confident. No, he was too awkward and nervous. So, when Nara’s father decided it was best if they marry, he readily agreed.

Maybe being forced together for two years would make her see him differently.

A sweet romantic comedy, full of laugh out loud moments and swoony kisses.

My Review: 4 Stars

A marriage of convenience is one of my favorite bookish tropes and I loved how this one had a sliver of love threaded through it. Nara and Derek have known each other since they were kids and now that her father is "forcing" them to get married, they have a chance to get to know each other in a different way.

Nara and Derek are great characters, but I'm definitely more like Derek. He was extremely awkward, not wanting to take risks, expose his heart, sit in the spotlight, or attract any kind of attention. That's me! Because of that, Nara often made me uncomfortable because she was so opposite, so determined to bring a smile to Derek's face, and she wasn't shy in her feelings towards her father. But she was completely intriguing and I absolutely adored watching this "forced" relationship unfold.

I loved the settings for this character driven story and could visualize things in my mind like I was watching a movie. I laughed and swooned, and didn't want this one to end.

If she wasn’t on the run, she’d leave...

But she’s stuck with him like Persephone with Hades.

Welcome to Billionaire Bachelor Mountain Cove. Off the grid, exclusive and remote, it’s the best place for a man to lick his wounds and heal.

Jett Eastwood’s climbing accident changes the course of his life forever.

Hannah Noah must escape an abusive ex who will do anything to get her back, even frame her for murder.

When she finds refuge with the brooding Jett, she promises to train his broken body so he can climb again. But can he return the favor and heal her broken heart?

My Review: 4 Stars

Jett and Hannah each have their own personal mountains to climb. An accident has changed Jett caused him to turn into a reclusive beast, of sorts. Hannah is on the run from her past and this beauty finds peace in the fortress that Jett lives in.

Jett is very innovative and I was fascinated by the inventions that he creates, especially when Hannah inspires him. I mean, seriously. The climbing world would be vastly different if people had access to these creations.

These characters have a very interesting connection and relationship and I would have loved to have seen that fleshed out even a little more. I wanted to watch the chemistry unfold more vividly, although I was happy with the morsels of attraction that I got. I loved the Hades and Persephone and Beauty and the Beast vibes that threaded throughout the story.

This Cove is an interesting place and I love getting to know the people who live there. The mansion sounded amazing and I loved visualizing it, but it was really the characters who stole my heart. It happens every time...

She thinks of him as a friend. He’s loved her since high school.

She’s holding on to the past. He’s worked hard to overcome his.

Brooks knew better than to fall in love with Jaclyn. She’s a trust fund kid, and he’s from the wrong side of the tracks. Guys like him never end up with girls like her. His head understood the rules. His heart was another story.

My Review: 4 Stars

This billionaire story features a wealthy female--Jaclyn--but no one would ever guess that's she's mega rich. It's more of an afterthought, as she makes her own living and works hard doing what she loves.

Brooks and Jaclyn were from very opposite sides of the tracks in high school, but they were exactly what each other needed, and I loved watching this couple reconnect after years apart, living very different lives. Their opposite ways are also quite apparent in their feelings of the past and I enjoyed watching them strike a balance with their feelings and relationship as they navigate this friendship renewal.

I love a story that can take two characters and mesh them into a perfect harmonious duet. Their personalities and strengths complement each other in ways that merge them into an ultimate and lovable couple. Life isn't easy and the struggles these two wade through are both realistic and heart-engaging. My sympathy chord was struck, and I found this story uplifting and sweet, to go along with that tinge of heartache.

My books are sweet romances set in both contemporary and regency settings featuring stories about the journey to love, from that first meeting to the point where two people know their hearts are no longer their own. My characters aren't perfect. They make mistakes and have faults like the rest of us. They learn the sometimes painful truth that the path to love isn't always smooth, but it's a road worth traveling.

So he was cute...

And smart...

That didn't mean I had to crush on him.

So why couldn't I stop?

My Review: 4 Stars

My heart always goes out to the underdog and that's just how Jovi comes across. Her dad is a rock star who found fame again with a reality tv show, of which her family is a part of, but moving to a new school in a new town is hard and she's not as bratty or as tough as she seems.

I get that these characters are teenagers with sometimes fickle emotions, but I wanted to feel more consistency with this cast. Some of their behaviors and attitudes almost gave me some minor whiplash and it took me a minute to settle in with them and how I could expect them to behave for the rest of the book.

That said, I am enjoying this academy and its students. I love that these teens seem like youth from any given high school and have problems and triumphs just like anyone. In this story in particular, it took some digging to discover who Jovi and Nile truly were to the core and found that--surprise!--I liked them. I love the lessons that emerged from this story and definitely enjoyed the sweet romance.

I was ready to rock Sophomore year...

Until I got the party kid as a lab partner...

I've dreamed of winning the TACS Award since I could type. But, the school board decided we needed to learn to work well with others and gave us partners for the computer programming project. Lucky me, I assigned with John Herrington III, whose big idea is a dating app for teens.

I'm so flunking.

I'm also crushing on him--hard.

Jumping into the social lives of our fellow students backfires when the mean girl gets dumped because of our app. She sets out to sabotage our project and ruin the Homecoming Dance for anyone we matched.

There's only one way to salvage the project--but it will mean my first broken heart because I'll lose either the guy I love or my life-long dream.

My Review: 4 Stars

A private school for high school students whose parents are billionaires...intriguing... Honestly, in a real world of collegiate scandals and other various misdeeds, this student body doesn't come off as entitled in the least. Adelle has worked hard for years to achieve her dreams of coding, getting into a good college, and winning a prestigious award. Money doesn't give this student any advantages.

I loved watching Adelle and John develop their app right along with their friendship. Adelle's journey into normal teen life was hilarious and fun. But, just like any normal high school, this one has its ups and downs, and has the typical variety of students--mean girls, jocks, brainiacs, and more--and drama are present. The teenage drama adds to the flavor of the story and gives dimension to the app. Seriously--where was this app when I was in high school?!

This sweet teenage romance was very enjoyable and worthy of a good escape.

My Review: 5 Stars

How fun is it that this little gem came out around the same time as the new movie Emma? I love this cozy small Arkansas town and Emily is the perfect woman to find a date for Grant, who is a reclusive, awkward best seller author. This couple has a past and I loved unraveling their delicate relationship.

Emily is the resident matchmaker--at least, she takes credit as being such--and her intentions are in the right place, but her cupid's arrows seem to fall short more often than not. This modernized version truly is adorable and I loved settling in with this story, as it felt like coming home. I really enjoy a small town romance, full of second chance possibilities, and a character who comes back to his roots. All of the characters are likable, which really adds to the fun, most particularly the sparring, the flirting, and the assumptions.

Hoagland does a great job of offering some marked differences from the original, while still staying true to the meat of the story and I loved it! I especially enjoyed the Regency ball, the retreat, and the descriptions of this massively thoughtful home and design. Eureka Springs is a place I'm definitely coming back to!

Get to know more of the men in the royal prince society, the perks of the wealthy, their games as royals, and their adventures on the Mediterranean.

My Review: 4 Stars

Mingling with a bunch of royals on a yacht with a storm brewing sounds like the perfect way for Amara to spend her summer break, especially when Prince Arlo, her best friend, extends her a personal invitation.

I've always had a fascination with royals and I love reading a story about one who seems so normal. I kept picturing Harry and Meghan, although Arlo and Amara don't resemble them at all in my mind. They just seem like that type of couple--very much into volunteering and service, kind, humble, down-to-earth, and definitely in the spotlight.

I enjoyed spending time with these characters and absolutely loved the setting. There were a few unexpected twists and turns that kept me entertained, but I would have loved for the story to be longer, adding more detail to a few parts.

I haven't read the others in this series and felt that this one could stand alone. This easy, breezy romance was a delicious escape for a cold, wintry day!

An engagement arranged as part of a business merger goes sideways when the billionaire's heir lays eyes on the wrong girl first.

Noah Rush has awaited his big break in his father’s high-powered corporation for years. If he can accomplish one last task Dad sets for him, Noah will finally win a seat at the corporate table with his older brothers, and thereby heal the rifts he unintentionally caused in the family.

All he has to do is win a girl’s heart and never let her know it’s part of a business deal.

Noah may be a philandering billionaire’s heir, but he’s nobody’s idea of a ladykiller.

Throw in the fact that the girl is a competitor’s daughter with a recently-crushed heart, and this mission is beyond impossible.

However, when Noah confuses his target with her rather unpolished cousin, and promptly falls head over heels … switching his focus back to the mission threatens to tear him apart.

Can Noah afford to choose love over both his dad’s approval and the future he’s always worked for?

My Review: 5 Stars

I love a case of mistaken identity and this one made for a perfectly hilarious meet-cute because of that. Noah is eager to bring his family together again and to please his father, even at the expense of true love.

I enjoyed touring Hawaii along with Noah, Echo, and Keely, as they embarked on adventure after adventure as Noah "courted" Echo and her company in an effort to forge a business merger. Noah and Keely were fantastically sweet and entertaining characters, while ice queen Echo was a little too perfect for my taste--until she showed her human side.

These characters melted my heart faster than a Snickers left out in the Hawaiian sun. I'll never think of a massage in the same way--who knew it could be so heart poundingly swoony?

This Hawaiian based series is a billion star winner in my book.
