My Review: 5 Stars 

What a darling set of stories, all with a wallflower theme. I loved the settings and picturing the situations.

I love these collections because each author has a slightly different writing style, but the common thread ties them all together, and for me, it was really hard to choose a favorite.

From a girl who freezes up with anxiety when talking to people, to a girl who wants to win a bet, to a girl with a secret, each story was such a fun delight and so entertaining. I loved the characters and the unique ways a wallflower was interpreted brought me some smiles and swoons.

Each one of these novellas in this collection earned a definite 5 stars from me!

My Review: 4 Stars

Sometimes the flirtatious banter and games is a lot of fun and something it comes across as too lighthearted. This story was a mixture of both. Emerson and Olivia have been friends since childhood and now big decisions are ready to be made. Do you stay loyal to your father or your heart?

The ballroom games really did provide a lot of entertainment and it was easy to picture myself in the ballroom as a late teen/young adult, but at times, it was hard to take Emerson seriously because it seemed all was in jest and his true motives were disguised. His spontaneous decisions did allow for some very hilarious moments though, and I did find myself smiling and laughing more than I was expecting to.

I enjoyed the delightful cast of characters and although I would have loved a dash more of romance, it was sweet and satisfying.

MY REVIEW: 5 STARS

I love a book that delves into common, real-world life, allowing the reader to dive into a wonderful world of escape, while maintaining a level of relatability. I loved how the characters weren't your typical heroes. Instead, they represented a unique aspect and the deep research was obvious and appreciated.

Matthews is shockingly talented at drawing a reader right in from the very first page and I found the characters, Evelyn and Ahmad, both captivating and endearing. Evelyn is no stranger to mistaken identity, as many see her as a bluestocking, and works hard to maintain hope, while Ahmad struggles to truly fit in and belong. They each see something in the other that others overlook and as their friendship grows, the subtle chemistry simmers in an underlying current. 

This story was enchanting and delightful and I can't wait for more!

My Review: 4 Stars

Life and love aren't always easy. In fact, they rarely are and the path for Charlotte and Henry is a twisty, rough road. I was just talking to someone about how it isn't fair when challenges and trials are sent your way because of the choices and actions of someone else and this is a classic case of that. A heartbreaking, classic case.

I would have loved to pick the inner workings of the character's brains more, but the story was pleasant and entertaining, and there is something satisfying about a relationship that takes a lot of hard work to get there.

Charlotte and Henry have a unique love, but many forces, including misunderstandings and unfortunate events, stand in their way. The separate paths they take definitely shape their individual characters and I really appreciated that.

This is a different type of Regency romance, but it was enjoyable in its own way.

I love Regency romances and the great thing about this set is that the characters are all considered to be spinsters, as well as working class. Of course, the upper crust would be a blast, but there weren't all that many of them, so it's relatable for them to be "normal," strong, everyday women.

THE SEVENTH STAR INN tells the story of Susan and her mother, and their new landlord, Collin, and his adorable daughter. I loved the charming, rich history of this town and the wonderful relationships, and the way Susan fights so hard to keep things as they are. Seeing Totnes through her eyes was beautiful.

A hidden identity is a major factor in THE TRUTH ABOUT MR. BLACKMORE. The way the inn plays a role in Mattias's secret was endearing, but the tangled web soon ensnares him. Mattias had to overcome a lot in his life and I enjoyed watching him navigate things, especially an attraction to Leigh.

THE COACHMAN'S CHOICE was a wonderful way to end the collection. We all have choices to make in life--the good, the better, and the best--and I delighted in watching Robert try to have his cake and eat it too. Mary has new opportunities to pursue and has choices to make of her own, and it heartwarming to watch them figure their lives and desires out.

Reality TV. A girl who lost it all. A super hot, super sweet guy. The wedding of a century. An off-limits relationship with the most underlying sizzling chemistry ever. An elderly, outspoken, quirky neighbor. What's not to love about this book? Why, absolutely nothing! I loved every minute of every page and didn't want it to end.

Anyone who's followed me for awhile knows I'm not a reality TV watcher, but I love stories with that plot line. Charlotte is a fantastic character and makes the rich and famous life look unappealing. I love how she gets so much satisfaction out of the simple things in life, yet she's so hard working and creative. And Lance? Whew, where do I even start? This reality star playboy seems to shun the spotlight, yet loves the lifestyle, but he's so down-to-earth and absolutely lovable. Even the wedding couple was deeper than first glance, although Alex (the bride) came off like a fickle coin--fun and adorable on one side and a spoiled brat on the other. The romantic tension was wonderfully perfect--sigh--so perfect.

My Review: 4 Stars

Not many can write a romantic suspense the way that this author can. Not only am I sucker for a good romance, but when a royal thread is added, I'm done for. This forbidden romance was a great reading escape. 

I loved Julia and her innovative ideas for this hidden kingdom to gain some regulated tourism. I loved Bodi and his strong, confident personality. The way they first met was adorable and set the tone to a fast-paced, swoony romance. That said, I know some people fall in love really fast, but this was...really fast, especially with the obstacles and dangers they had to face.

I loved the characters and the setting was breathtaking--yes, I could picture it in my mind. I loved the conflict and the loyalty, as frustrating as it was at times. This was a beautiful love story and the beginning of what is sure to be a good series.

My Review: 5 Stars 

There's nothing I love more than a marriage of convenience trope and that's just the situation that Philly and Arthur find themselves in. Philly is an unconventional woman and doesn't realize her worth, nor her beauty, and when combined with her precocious personality and her adorable menagerie of dogs, she's definitely on my list of favorites. I loved the way Arthur and Philly interacted and the way he was such a protector from her uncle and a villainous duke. 

The story line and descriptions were vivid, allowing me to play this book out like a beloved movie in my mind. There were moments of danger and mystery swirling around and they only added to the story, making it more engaging--I didn't want to put it down!

As always, the romantic chemistry was my favorite and Matthews delivered just the right touch. It was gentle and sweet, yet so endearing. This is a must-read for Regency lovers.

My Review: 5 Stars

I've been reading books by this author for a very long time and I never cease to be amazed at how versatile she is. Moore did a phenomenal job in capturing the historical moments along with the personal stories of an incredible man, merging reality and fiction into a completely captivating story. I thought Moore was brilliant before, and this story completely cements that idea.

The times surrounding WWII have a soft spot in my heart, but I haven't read many stories that bring to life the events leading up to the Cold War. I was horrified and fascinated, yet I also felt the hope and determination of the characters. 

What really hit home to me is that we all have stories and experiences to share. We can all learn from each other, especially in the face of very hard and trying times. Bob's character is a refreshing light in a sometimes dark world and there is much to be learned from him. This book is just beautiful and touching and I'm so glad that it was put together and written before Bob's passing, just a month before its release. Consider me truly touched.

My Review: 5 Stars

There's something so intriguing and heartbreaking about a forbidden love and Abramson snapped me to attention with this sweet novella.

Russian ballerina Katerina and Canadian hockey star Robert share an adjacent balcony at a hotel and forge an attracting friendship that I just devoured. Abramson portrays these characters in a lifelike and authentic way that gripped my heart. Details about how captive Katerina was stirred feelings of fear and hope deep in my soul and I desperately wanted Robert to find success. 

Written in a very engaging way, this story nestled itself deep in my heart and left me anticipating more from this series.

My Review: 5 Stars

The books in this series must be read in order, as the drama and intensity builds with each one and you'll definitely be lost without the backstory. That said, I've been waffling between eagerly anticipating this story and dreading it. Why the contradicting feelings? Because I've been dying to get Kinsley's story, yet this is the end of the series.

This story is full of drama--the kind that makes a reader question everything in life and spend lots of time assessing what they would do in this situation--yet I just couldn't get enough. Peel has a way of magically transporting a person right into her books.

Kinsley and Brant are multi-dimensional characters and I loved peeling their layers to discover what is underneath. They have heavy burdens, yet they are each full of grace. With stories full of love, loss, forgiveness, and tension, these characters grow and although their situations may differ from the reader's, they are built on relatable facets. My heart was tugged and stretched, but I wouldn't have it molded in any other way.

My Review: 4.5 Stars

I love a book with a good, strong female lead and it was especially fun to watch Vivian develop her love of science. The Blue Orchid society is a wonderfully diverse and solid group of innovative young ladies in the Victorian era and it's such a joy to delve into each of their stories.

Vivian is very smart and not afraid to be true to herself. She's a sharp character that was a delight to read about and I just adored her. I loved Lord Benedict and the whole situation regarding him. Moore always introduces a thread to her stories that aren't the norm for the time periods she writes in, and this whole series is evident of that. The Chinese element was enjoyable and interesting as well.

Solid characters with a solid plot. Personally, I wanted more romance, since this is labeled as a Victorian romance, but all in all, this is a very entertaining book in a wonderful series and I'm anticipating the rest of the Society's stories.

My Review: 4.5 Stars

One of my favorite things to do lately is read a book without reading the synopsis. Of course, this only works when it's written by an author I love. I had no idea what I was getting into with this one and I loved that, confusing bits and all. While there is still a time travel element in this one (more of a time shift), it didn't feel quite as shocking and pronounced, but it was every bit as entertaining and I was left wondering about the outcome until the very end.

Lew and Eliza have a wonderfully jolting clash at first meet, and that dynamic serves them well as they encounter once again. I loved that this story was about two authors and the think that ties their lives together is a book. I enjoyed watching how things developed and evolved in the lives of these great characters. Matayo's wit shines through the pages. The creativity and twists were a lot of fun, and this story was very enjoyable. I only wished for more romance.

This is a fun series about a family in the witness protection program and I don't think I could do it. This is the second book so far and I love how the reader gets to know the characters better and better as the series progresses, and I can't wait to learn more about the other siblings.

Richard is the eldest and the serious, grumpy brother, but all that changes when Ava shows up with his twin brothers. I loved the vague play on a favorite classic movie, which gave the story some familiarity, but twisted into a messy pile of pure entertainment.

The way the summer heat sparks a swoony, massive attraction that results in a steamy clean hidden romance was perfection. While there are big secrets to be kept by all and obvious walls are high, Krey manages to draw the reader in with some humor, a hint of danger, and more than a few amazing kisses.

This is a cute story that was the perfect reading escape and I can't wait for more!

So much is wrapped up in these pages. Anderson tackles a few tough topics, such as PTSD and domestic abuse, but does it in a way that brings issues to light without feeling heavy at all. These Hudson brothers are a force to be reckoned with and I love getting their stories. LOVED!

After Jaxon rescues Finley, takes her on one date, and then deploys, survivor's guilt and trauma take over his life. When Finley needs rescuing again, they reconnect and the sparks are more flammable than ever.

Jaxon is one amazing character! Although he's strong and compassionate, he's battling demons, which makes him relatable. Finley has struggled her whole life, especially with a sense of belonging and the marriage of inconvenience that ensues from their reunion finally gives her what she craves...but can she keep it?

Anderson has a way of writing that makes me smile, swoon, and devour every single word. I loved every interaction between Jaxon and Finley and couldn't get enough of their palpable chemistry. The zings were instantaneous, yet completely believable, and the little baby, Gracie, melted my heart.

I absolutely adore these brothers--every single one--and can't wait to read every one of their stories.

I was so sad to see the Romeo family come to an end and was absolutely delighted to see this new series infuse that beloved family within its pages. I love a good romantic suspense and Youngblood has perfected the craft with this one. 

Effie is out on her own with a major design client and that first meet cute was hilariously adorable! Talon is charming and lovable, but he's got mysteries enshrouding him and his family. The vibe was creepy, yet sweet; terrifying, yet romantic; chilling, yet fun. I flew through the pages and enjoyed it all. The formula was magnificent and I didn't see some of the twists and turns coming, which reminded me of a frightful roller coaster that shan't be named that always leaves me shaking in my shoes, yet wanting to go again.

This series is off to a great start and I'm eagerly awaiting more of Honeysuckle Island and it's too-close-for-comfort residents.

What a teaser! I loved the mash-up of the Lancasters and the Jonquils and when Newton and Ellie were thrown into the mix of an entertaining way to avoid marriage, I was hooked. Eden always writes delightfully charming characters and Artemis and her Huntresses opened up all kinds of possibilities for future stories.

Ellie is mistreated by those who should love her best and I was so happy when Artemis took Ellie under her wing. Newton is such a wonderfully kind gentleman and the plan they came up with was full of thrills and swoon, especially as this group became tight-knit. These characters are endearing.

You'd better believe I'm counting down the days to the match of a lifetime and it all sparked with this adorable novella!

The Broken Ranch and Original Six rodeo studs have my whole heart! Just like his buddies, Eric is a charming, sweet, down-to-earth cowboy who captured my heart with his gentlemanly ways. I was delighted by his first meeting with Hazel, who caught me off guard probably as much as she did Eric. Completely unexpected, Hazel is a force to be reckoned with and I adored her spitfire personality. 

It's amazing to me that each story has a woman who is staying at this therapy ranch and a man who is a rodeo cowboy, yet they're all so different. Similar ingredients but a different recipe yields delightfully charming results and I was a sucker for this one. 

I especially loved the descriptions of the wide open skies and ranch work. Times feel simpler and are rejuvenating to the soul. Even the virtual escape was refreshing. I loved it and my heart craved the sweet romance that was offered.

Eden Falls is a mystical place, especially when twins Ava and Elyse find themselves attending their senior year there at a boarding school. Lifelong secrets threaten to spill and a fake romance emerges. Told in alternating points-of-view, this story captured me and twisted my heart from start to finish, but especially when a love becomes forbidden. 

 

Corry is a talented genius when it comes to infusing the lighter parts of teen life with the heavy, angsty drama that is always lurking in the shadows. I love how she introduces real-life issues to her characters lives and allows the reader to wade through them with the protagonists, together. Her writing style is engaging, memorable, and raw, and I just can't devour her words fast enough. 

 

Though Ava and Elyse are both great characters, it's Ava's head the reader enters. She struggles with school, but works hard and has such a fun, sassy, flirty personality. We are also treated to Carter's point-of-view and he's a total contradiction. There are some themes and issues that seemed more adult than young adult in this book, but it did help me to know the characters were seniors in high school and some of them had even turned 18. I enjoyed meeting their new friends and classmates and I can't tell you how excited I am to delve into more of their lives in future books!

 

Content Warning: As I mentioned before, this story is real and raw, and while I know a lot of teens are sexually active, it's not something I'm a fan of in books. While the reader doesn't see it happen, it's talked about and implied. Otherwise, there's just kissing/making out.

I've always had a fascination with all things royal and it was fun to get a small taste of the royal life with this story. Although most of it takes place outside the palace walls and the princess is very down-to-earth, the elegance that surrounds Emma, and her awesome new bodyguard, Ryan, was delightful. 

This book reminded me of Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. Emma is always trying to escape her protection, much to Ryan's amusement, until the day there is nowhere to escape to. That's when the fun begins with a tentative friendship and a fake relationship.

Ryan is a very uptight character and it was a joy to watch him soften through events out of his control. I loved Emma's carefree and spirited ways and I liked seeing her mellow just a bit and I especially loved her desire to be normal, to help others, and to work hard, not fearing a little dirt on her hands.

Whitney does a good job of incorporating both the fun and the real aspects of being royal and delivers a charmingly sweet romance.
