“Sir, I am so sorry,” Valynn started to apologize as her intestines began to twist themselves into knots of anxiety. “I had no idea who you were. I thought you…well, that you were here to lock up the building or something. I don’t even know what I thought really…but I didn’t think you were, you know, you.”
Valynn found herself uncharacteristically breathless as he smiled down at her and said, “It’s fine. Valynn? Is that right?”
“Yeah,” she managed to answer.
“It’s good to finally meet you,” he said. “And your work is…” He shook his head with admiration. “Your work really is the best I’ve ever seen.”
“Th-thank you! Wow, that means more than you can imagine…coming from you.” she stammered...
Instantly Valynn realized that she’d never really seen a photograph of the well-known photographer and entrepreneur. His work was so popular, as well as artistic, that she’d never paused to wonder what the man behind the camera looked like. But if she had taken a moment to wonder, she never, ever, ever would’ve imagined he was six foot three-ish, with gorgeous raven black hair, eyes that looked like two sapphires had been placed in them, the firmest, squarest, most perfectly shaped chin and jaw she’d ever seen on a man, and an overall appearance of just plain sigh-inducing hotness!
 
My Review:

One thing I can guarantee is that Marcia will deliver a cute story with some good, clean kissing and a few unique details. With a Dreamboat in a Hammock is no exception.

Valynn is on the prowl for a new job and applies for a prestigious photography business. Hired on the spot, she then has a humorous run-in with the gorgeous boss, Jensen. I immediately pictured Jensen Ackles, which I later found is who he got his name from. There's not a lot of conflict in the story--the reader gets a how-they-met-and-fell-in-love story, which is sometimes a breath of fresh air. I read most of this at the pool while my kids were swimming and it was nice to just have some brain candy.

While not my most favorite of this author's, I did enjoy the photography and photo restoration aspects. I loved the description of the location for an engagement shoot--that was my favorite part! I love the way Marcia incorporates real life, true experiences of hers, her family's, and close friends to get those humorous and endearing parts. I always look forward to the snippets at the end.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts…tales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ice in wonder at the small fish, snakes and mice sealed in the meadow grasses beneath; stories of hardship and tragedy, love and loss. But always the stories, and the people telling them, bore evidence of the wonder and worthiness of simpler, yet sometimes brutal, times.

These influential people and the family legends they detailed, coupled with her own life experiences and utterly romantic nature, led Marcia to begin writing novels as Christmas gifts for her closest friends…friends who long for a breath of the past and miss the romance of bygone eras; friends searching for moments of distraction from the stressful, demanding times we live in.
