When Piper Jensen’s dog has a litter of puppies that aren’t anything like their purebred mother, she immediately suspects the culprit responsible for the mishap is her neighbor’s derelict dog. Seeking restitution, Piper confronts the owner, Gabe Wesson, a single father of two children that likes to keep to himself. She isn’t prepared for Gabe to be so handsome, nor so disagreeable, and is irritated by his demands for a paternity test to prove his dog is the sire. As she and Gabe try to work things out, they both fight a growing attraction neither one of them want. But when Piper finds her heart falling in love with his children, it might be the catalyst that tips the scale towards a destiny she never dreamed possible.

My Review: 5 Stars

Piper has been burned badly by a relationship and is taking some time to heal in Snow Valley, while waiting for her purebred dog to deliver puppies. Imagine her surprise when the puppies come out looking like her neighbor's rascal of a dog. Piper is full of spitfire as she confronts Gabe, the owner. Their first meeting is full of sparks, and not just the kind produced by anger.

I love the parallels between Piper's past and her present situation. She can totally relate to Gabe's two adorable children because of her history. She is a character full of love and passion and it's so easy to adore her. Gabe is like glue--he holds his family together and is a good person. He's easy to swoon over, yet his bitter divorce has left a bit of a residue on his soul.

The romantic tension is almost unbearable because it's so intense. I love the butterflies in the pit of my stomach that this story had me feeling throughout and I was almost blushing a few times because of some cute blunders. There's serious heart and soul found inside this book, with darling animals, sweet kids, and swoony chemistry. I couldn't put it down--good thing I didn't have anywhere to go.

Content: mild, swoony romance (kissing, vague mention of affairs).
