My Review: 3.5 Stars
These authors have settled into a very comfortable and cozy series and it's quite enjoyable. Laurie is the producer of a TV show that takes cold cases and tries to solve them, but when she finds herself without a show on the horizon and a boss breathing down her neck, she jumps at the chance to cover a case where the guilty party, Casey, is desperate to clear her name after serving a fifteen year sentence.
Laurie is a very meticulous and fair woman and I love watching her in action, as she strives to solve crimes. She has a very warm personality and is easy to talk to and trust, as she once found herself on the end of pointing fingers. I would love to be a friend of hers. The TV host, Alex, is out of the picture and a new host, Ryan, comes in. I still can't decide if I like him or not--there's a bit of mystery surrounding him and he seems hot and cold with no in between.
In typical fashion, the reader is invited to meet many different characters, all with possible motives, and as the story progresses, the villain becomes clear, although not until the end. However, I was a bit disappointed that I actually figured it out, which I never do! I love uncovering the clues right along with the characters and it was an enjoyable read.
Content: it's a murder/mystery--some mild violence (nothing gory at all); 2-3 mild cuss words; very mild romance.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I've read pretty much all of hers and it seems that the language and violence have gone down a bit, which isn't a bad thing. They're still fun mysteries.
