My Review: 5 Stars
I love food--especially baked goods--and this book had me constantly craving something deliciously sugary. I'm also a fan of challenges (when it's not me) and this couple faces many of them. How can you truly appreciate something if it doesn't take a lot of work to get it?
Ryland had her dream bakery and lost it. She's got a plan to be back on top again, but it takes following a recipe card and her plans to a T. Colin is a very spontaneous and fun-loving guy, who always takes risks and never seems to take life seriously. When these opposites clash in the classroom (her as teacher, him as student), literal and figurative sparks fly.
There's something about the way that opposites attract that's very appealing. Not only is there a lot of conflict, which makes for some fun entertainment, but there's also some growth that occurs, and that tugs a tender part of my heart. I love how both Ryland and Colin learn to balance each other and the process left me with a smile on my face.
This is a fantastic holiday story with many fuzzy feels, as well as some aggravating moments--I tend to be more like Ryland--but I adored it. I love this family because they've had their share of hard times and that makes them real. The books can stand alone, but it's great to read them all. I can't wait for Leigh's story!
