I remember when I was a young girl, I loved to imagine what it would be like to have an unusual pet. There was a book about a dinosaur and I thought that would be too big, so my dream pet was a chimp. I was fascinated by the way this girl imagined herself a pet and best friend, who is an elephant! Not only could this elephant go everywhere with her, but he's a handy thing too. Who better to have imaginary adventures with than with your best imaginary friend?
The bright yellow cover really captured my attention and it wasn't lost while reading. The illustrations are engaging and sweet, really sparking my imagination. The story is set in a rhyming form, which is so much fun, especially for children. My daughter read it a couple of times and loved it too. I love to find a book that's fun to read over and over again with pictures that make you really want to stop and study them. This is a great read for kids of any age.
