Description:
“Have a
wonder-filled Christmas,” people in Luke’s new hometown greet one
another as Christmas approaches. With no memory of a Christmas
celebration, ten-year-old Luke feels excluded from the town’s tradition,
until he finds his deceased mother’s nativity set. Touched by Mary’s
protecting embrace of the Baby Jesus, Luke experiences his first
Christmas Wonder. His discovery is the catalyst for a search that leads
to a soul-changing season for neighbors as Luke finds his connection to
heavenly love.
Robyn Buttars, author of the best-selling and award winning novella Christmas Rose, weaves an unforgettable holiday story for the entire family.
My Review:
Luke and his father are new to town and his father seems much to busy to be bothered with him. Through the kindness of others, Luke learns about an important town tradition -- Christmas Wonders. Luke doesn't remember ever celebrating Christmas, since his mother died when he was young right before the beloved holiday, and doesn't feel that he can contribute to the wonders, along with everyone else in town. When he discovers his mother's nativity set in a box of winter clothing, that changes. Luke brings magic to this town with his self-discovery. A search for the woman who started the Christmas Wonders begins and hearts are softened and people really come together.
I love a good Christmas story that touches the heart and leaves me thinking about it for a long time after the last word is read. I love that this town's residents are so set on looking for the positive in life and I would love to implement that more in my own life. This story is not only sweet and tender, but also inspiring. I love the saying they all give to one another -- "Have a wonder-filled Christmas" -- because the holiday isn't only about being wonderful, but finding the wonder in each day.
