Review: Rough Around the Edges Meets Refined (Meet Your Match #2) by Rachael Anderson with Giveaway

Rough Around the EdgesAround the Edges Meets Refined (Meet Your Match #2) by Rachael Anderson
For Noah Mackie, life is finally back on track. He has a great support system, a promised promotion is on its way, and he's finally getting the hang of this single father thing. But when the job falls through and his neighbor's matchmaking efforts become more aggressive, Noah is in for yet another unwanted detour. With his career and two spirited daughters to worry about, he doesn't have time for dating—especially not someone like Cassie Ellis, his girls' beautiful and sophisticated dance instructor, who is about as open and approachable as a brick wall. Rough around the Edges Meets Refined is about two people who think they know exactly what they want but who have no idea what they really need. It's about learning that people aren't always what they seem and that sometimes life’s detours take you exactly where you need to go.

My Review: This book can stand alone, as it follows the story of a secondary character from Book 1. Noah is a single, widower father, raising two young girls. He's a manly man--a man who works hard and is hands on. He can't do a decent ponytail, until he figures out a way to use the vacuum to suck the girls hair tight; he's not a great cook, but does enough to get by; and he's not looking for love again. He appears to be a little rough around the edges--ripped jeans, paint-splattered shirts, and slightly unorganized, yet appearances can be deceiving.

Noah's girls are adorable! They're so different from one another, yet they are best friends. One is into dance and girly things and the other is into horses. They unknowingly bridge a gap.

Cassie is a widow--one who is relieved to be a widow because of her unhappy marriage. She isn't looking for love either. Her marriage left her with the need to rebel--to an extent: pink everything, pizza delivered, a basement finished in a way that pleases her, etc. Cassie feels she needs to move slowly in her relationships in order to rediscover herself. Cassie is a dancer and really feels emotion through her movements and music. She's very outwardly refined, but she has insecurities, just like everyone else. I love the way she handles and treats Noah's girls.

I love the journey these two took to finding themselves, learning to compromise, and realizing their true hearts desires. I loved the ice cream/personality analysis. What a fun way to look at life! I loved seeing familiar characters in side roles, supporting their loved ones. The story engaged me and drew me in and I found myself cheering Noah and Cassie on. There were a few unexpected twists, but I was satisfied with the results.
