Description:
Chalice Stratford’s hands won’t stop shaking. Since the serial killer who tortured her is still at large, she’s had to enter the witness protection program and give up the medical practice that required her steady hand. Now she is working in a museum in Bordeaux, France, and doing her best to keep a low profile.
On the first day of her new job, the last thing she expects is to be abducted in a theft gone wrong. But Omar Zagouri, the man behind the heist, is more than he appears, and Chalice soon discovers that he might be the one man who can put her demons to rest.
Revised edition: This edition of Beneath includes editorial revisions.
My Review:
This is a very short, action-packed story, but it was written in a way that left me wanting more. Chalice is in a witness protection program and has a lot of scars from her past. What happened to her? Who is she? Who is she hiding from?
I love Omar. He's so mysterious and intriguing. In just a short amount of time, he is able to uncover a small portion of Chalice's secrets. He certainly has a way about him.
Content: a couple of mild cuss words; mild violence and evidence of abuse; some undressing and skin (not all the way) that isn't sexual at all (all the important parts stay covered). Clean for an older reader.
