My Review: 4 Stars
This is Book 2 and I highly recommend reading Book 1 before delving into this one.
You'd think when an evil ruler is overthrown, there would be peace in the land, but that's not the case in Cordovia. Another nefarious man must be faced and this time, highwaymen are at the head of the cause. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first because it was easier to get lost in the story. As I mentioned previously, I love being shown what is going on, instead of being told, and that happens more in this installment.
Christine is another strong female lead, playing the perfect counterpart to her childhood acquaintance, Austin. Their connection and interactions are smooth and full of romantic tension, which accented the danger, intrigue, and mystery nicely.
I'm confused about which time period this takes place in, as some things lead me to believe it's well in the past, while other things make me think it's more modern times, but I went with it and let it capture my attention, regardless.
Content: mild violence; mild romance
