He was the high school bad boy. She was the good girl who got away. Reunited after ten years, can they put aside their past to start their future?

After becoming a computer programming genius while a teen, Caleb Davenport has spent the last decade building an international company into a billion-dollar enterprise with his business partners. Traveling constantly around the world, he’s lonely and ready to settle down with the woman of his dreams.

Unfortunately, Caleb hasn’t stopped thinking about Kira Bancroft since high school. But after ten years, she’s probably living her dream as a concert pianist in New York City. Until one evening, fresh off the plane from Hong Kong, he runs smack dab into Kira waitressing at a local Denver restaurant.

Kira’s life hasn’t gone exactly how she hoped. After a terrible accident that disabled her father, Kira’s dream of being on stage with a Steinway piano is abandoned to help her parents pay the overwhelming medical bills, even as they lose their home to bankruptcy.

When sparks fly between her and Caleb at their high school reunion, she starts to hope that maybe she can dream again. But Caleb is keeping a secret that could ruin everything.

Does Caleb have a chance to win Kira’s heart—or will his family's secret past prevent him from capturing the girl who got away?

 My Review: 4 Stars

The older I get, the more those rose-colored glasses come on when I think back to my high school days. Caleb had a big crush on Kira back then, but as a shy, somewhat rebellious nerd, he didn't stand a chance, but she's definitely the one that got away. A chance meeting just before their ten year high school reunion and a very successful start up business gives him the courage to take that second chance.
I don't know if I could be brave enough to take that second shot like Caleb does. He is definitely persistent and I love a man who knows what he wants and will do what it takes to chase after her. His patience (with a few slip ups full of chemistry) is swoon-worthy and he's a sweetheart, especially for having all that money. I tend to revert back to my shy and insecure ways when I'm around high school classmates, but this guy is stronger than me.

Kira is one of the most selfless women ever and she's still as sweet as she's always been, but a little clueless. She has reasons to be a little gun-shy with a new relationship, but I almost felt she took her reaction to his honesty and apology a little too far.

I love a fun, clean, entertaining romance and I had a hard time putting this one down. Even though I didn't always agree with Kira's reactions, I found their interactions to be sweet and the plot to be creative and fun.

Content: mild romance (kissing).

About the Author::

Kimberley MontpetitKimberley Montpetit once spent all her souvenir money at the La Patisserie shops when she was in Paris—on the arm of her adorable husband. The author grew up in San Francisco, another swoon-worthy city, loves all things Parisian and chocolate and lives in a small town along the Rio Grande with her family.

Kimberley has won many awards for her work, including the Southwest Book Award, the Whitney Award, the Arizona/New Mexico Book Award, is a Crystal Kite Finalist (SCBWI) and included in the Bank Street College Best Books of the Year.

She once stayed in a haunted castle tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed on the Seine in Paris, walked the beaches of Normandy, eaten in numerous French cafes, ridden a camel in Petra, Jordan, sunbathed on Waikiki, shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.

She adores all baked goodies; brownies, éclairs, donuts, tarts, and pie, and makes a lot of chocolate chip cookies while revising.

Kimberley is, of course, hard at work on her next novel(s).
