Description:
Kylie’s been crushing on Kole for two years now, but can she get him to see her as more than a friend?
For years Kylie has watched her older sisters get asked to every school dance there is. Yet once she’s old enough to go, the invites are in short supply. While getting overlooked has never felt good, it hasn’t really hurt the way it does this year. Because now there’s someone she really wants to go with: Kole Kingston. Kole is charming and funny. Gorgeous and kind. And everything she wants in a guy. Trouble is, he’s also her very best friend. Can Kylie tear herself free from the friend-zone in time to get asked to the Christmas dance? Or will she – like so many others – find that a romance between them will never be?

My Review:
I've loved this author's books and couldn't wait for this one! In fact, as soon as I got it, I dropped everything and read it in one sitting. And I can't stop obsessing over it. I love that Ms. Krey can write in a way that really touches my heart, puts a smile on my face, and causes me to feel a part of the story. She has a writing style that really speaks to me.
Kylie has twin older sisters and a younger sister and they all seem to be well liked by the boys. With a school Christmas dance approaching, Kylie watches as everyone around her gets asked, while her own heart is secretly yearning to be asked by her best friend, Kole. It's a tough spot to be in--happy for others, while feeling envious and inadequate at the same time.
As hard as it is to believe (at least for my kids), I was a teenager once and this story had me flashing back to my own experiences. Is there any girl who hasn't had a crush on her friend? My sister and I are really close together and went to high school together for a couple of years and it was a hard thing to deal with--one of us getting asked to dances before the other. Feelings of jealousy and insecurity are real and I love the way Kylie learned to deal with things. Not only is this a darling YA story, but when Christmas (my most favorite holiday) is thrown into the mix, magic and fun are waiting to happen.
I loved the characters, especially Kole and Kylie. Each had an important role to make this story so sweet, realistic, and heartwarming. I've found a new favorite to add to my "must read every Christmas" list!
Content: no violence, language, or religious elements; mild, clean romance (kissing). Clean!
