Ford’s innocence—and soon, their attraction is undeniable. But it seems
that Kira’s nightmare is far from over. What begins as a series of close
calls and acts of vandalism soon escalates, putting Kira’s own life in
jeopardy. It appears that Kira saw something that day along the trail,
something that has made her a target. With Ford’s help, she is
determined to track down the killer—before she becomes the next victim.
My Review:
I couldn't help but to find this story a little creepy, which is probably how it was intended to be. I don't live far from where this story takes place and let me just say--I will not be taking any jogs along the river trail by myself anytime in the near future!
I love how the story starts right off into the thick of things, with a suspenseful discovery of a body. That chance discovery leads to a chance meeting between Ford and Kira. The attraction is instant and a relationship soon develops. I love a good suspense with a little romance woven neatly between the lines and this one delivered.
Ford is a school teacher and is a suspect in this case. I love how strong, smart, and protective he is of Kira, yet not overbearingly so. There are many twists and turns in the story and I just couldn't help but hope that Ford is innocent of committing the murder. Kira has been sheltered by an overprotective father and brother for her whole life and is trying so hard to stand on her own. In the middle of proving her independence, she finds herself in some scary and dangerous situations, but still holds firm. She's so tiny and petite, yet is a ball of determination.
At times, I wondered if there were too many mishaps, but they really helped drive the suspense and added to the story. The climax was great and I loved the resolution.
Content: mild romance (kissing); no language; mild violence (not graphic--murder, other violent crimes); mild religious elements (nothing preachy--just casually mentioned). Clean!

Jennie Hansen lived a
nomadic life during her early years and can remember living in
twenty-two different houses and attending eight schools. The two
colleges where she earned degrees, Ricks and Westminster, made ten. She
worked as a model, secretary, newspaper reporter and editor, legislative
page, teacher, and librarian. Through it all, she kept writing. To date
she has twenty-three published novels, numerous short stories, and many
magazine and newspaper articles to her credit. She has written reviews
of LDS fiction for Meridian Magazine since 2001.
She and her husband have five children, all of whom are married to wonderful people, and eleven grandchildren. Two days each week Jennie and her husband can be found serving at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, a fifteen-minute drive from their Utah home.
