My Review: 4 Stars
Most of the books that I read that take place in 1812 take place in England or British Territories, so it was a pleasant surprise to read one that takes place during the war that involved the US, Britain, and Canada.
Jennifer Moore isn't one who skimps on research and it's apparently obvious that this book is no exception. There are unpleasant war details given, but they were a part of life then and really add to the ambiance of the book. It was fascinating to read about what some people may have gone through while others across the pond were concerning themselves with the Ton and society balls.
I enjoyed the cast of characters--Abigail is a healer, Emmett a soldier, and the band of soldiers that they travel with are great. I could have handled a little more romance, to balance out the heaviness of war, but overall, it was an interesting tale.
