Determined not to repeat the same mistakes as her mother, Taylor Cole left her husband with their toddler in tow fourteen years ago and vowed never to return to Merryton. Now she is finally ready to face her demons and put the past and her ex-husband behind her, but to do that she and her daughter must return to the place that haunts her memories. A place where she lost not only the love of her life, but her childhood hopes and dreams.

When they move back, Taylor can’t seem to remain apathetic toward her ex-husband or his nine-year-old daughter. She discovers that maybe all wasn’t as it seemed so many years ago. And maybe—just maybe—she and her ex-husband need each other more now than they ever have before. But can the exes put the past behind them and find a way to forgive each other? Or will they let past mistakes and misunderstandings keep them from future happiness?

Return to Merryton and join Taylor and Easton on their journey, and catch up with old friends you grew to love in Jessie Belle.

My Review: 5 Stars

Divorce isn't ever easy on a couple, or on a child, for that matter. Taylor and Easton married young and the pressures of medical school, residency, and insecurities led to a tragic breakup. Their now teen daughter, Ashley, wants to move back to be near her dad and to get to know him, after so many years apart, but it may be more than Taylor can handle, especially since Easton is single again and has an adorable nine-year-old. It's said that every story has two sides...

Taylor is a fiercely strong and independent woman, yet she is quick to help out in times of need. I would love a friend like Taylor, as she's loyal and so sweet. Ashley is mature beyond her years and is a catalyst in bringing her family together. Emmy is so adorable and innocent, which is exactly what these characters need. Easton is amazing! He is one persistent man on a mission and it's hard not to think the world of him. A better father, harder worker, and swoony romancer can't be found.

Throughout the story, I kept wishing that things would have been resolved in the past because of the emotional pain and heartache so many of the characters had to endure, but how can you deny them their journeys? Sometimes the best things in life are the things that you have to work for the hardest to get. Still, my heart was on the brink of breaking, but I often rejoiced with these characters and cheered them on, while booing for the "villains." This small Colorado town of Merryton has some fantastic long-time residents and newcomers alike, but has a very Southern busybody/gossip feel to it. Deep down, the citizens are all concerned about each other and it shows. I'm excited to read more about these ladies and loved seeing glimpses of Jessie (Book 1) and her family throughout the book.

This is a well-written story, full of forgiveness, love, and overcoming challenges. I would recommend this to those readers who enjoy a good, clean romance, as well as serious issues that women face in today's world, told in a tasteful way.

Content: mild romance (kissing, vague talk of affairs). Clean.
