Change of Heart by Jennifer Moore {Blog Tour Review and Giveaway}

Change of Heart Change of Heart by Jennifer Moore

This summer, Nathaniel Cavanaugh vacations in Lobster Cove to spend quality time with his kids after his estranged wife’s tragic death. Successful and well-connected, he is on the fast-track to the highest legal positions in the country, but his family life suffers. After an accident throws Val nearly into his lap and costs her a job opportunity, Nathaniel surprises himself by overlooking her outlandish appearance and lack of qualifications to offer her a job as his nanny for the summer. Valdosta McKinley wishes for an internship at a Paris Art Institute to use her newly acquired art-history skills. She knows Nathaniel could never develop feelings for a girl from a trailer in a rural West Virginia holler—a lesson she learned the hard way years earlier. Will pursuit of their professional goals require Nathaniel and Val to give up the dream of being a family?

My Review: 5 Stars

They say that sometimes opposites attract and that definitely seems to be the case with Nathaniel and Val. Nathaniel is a widower with two adorable, young kids, spending the summer in Maine. Val is looking for a summer internship with an art dealer and had a lead in Lobster Cove, so she leaves West Virginia and follows her dreams. Things don't go quite as expected for either of them and a scary, chance meeting brings them together.

Val is very spunky and eccentric, yet not a more lovable soul can be found. Her redneck ways don't stop her from reaching her goals. She is naive, tenderhearted, and very likable. Nathaniel is hardworking and focused, but he's doing his best to be a good dad. I absolutely loved the way these two work together and balance one another. Their interactions had me flipping the pages because I just couldn't get enough. The secondary characters are charming and make up a great support system.

The setting is stunning and I'm dying to go to the beach in Maine now and to live in that cottage! The kids, Ruby and Finn, are delightful and I absolutely adore the way Val connects with them. The characters are real, with ups and downs, misunderstandings, spunk, and sweet moments. I love a story that draws me in, keeps me hostage until the last page, and has me thinking about it for days. This one is perfect! I would recommend this one for those who love a clean, summer romance.

Content: mild romance. Clean!

Excerpt:

And he thought Val may love him too. Did she?

Nathaniel's breath caught at the memory of their kiss, the way she’d looked at him this morning when he’d held her as she cried. Her unrestrained smile and dimpled cheeks, the laughter that bubbled up from her toes, and the simple moments like sitting in silence on the porch or sharing a look when one of the kids said something funny. How would he live without these things? And why should he? Why wasn’t he driving back to that apartment, breaking down her door, and kissing her senseless?

His fingers tightened on the steering wheel. He knew exactly why. Paris.
