She is the author of the YA dystopian novel, NUMBERS GAME, and the inspirational book, HOW TO HAVE PEACE WHEN YOU'RE FALLING TO PIECES. She also writes for Deseret News, KSL.com, FamilyShare, and Provo Daily Herald. However, her true love is writing for teenagers. She enjoys traveling, reading, and martial arts, and she has a ridiculous addiction to chocolate-banana shakes.

Facts About the Author:
1.      Which did you find more difficult: writing the book or marketing it? Why?
Oh, definitely writing the book. It took three years and several rewrites to figure out where I wanted this story to go. Novels are definitely harder than they look.

2.      What is the best advice you received growing up?
My childhood teachers always said I could be anything I wanted, but that wasn't really true. Being 5'4" (and female), I'll never play in the NBA. I would never have made it to the Olympics as a swimmer, no matter how hard I worked. (That 5'4" thing again.) I'll never be an astronaut or President or the CEO of a large corporation. But I had a few professors in college tell me that I had a talent for certain things, and that if I worked hard, I could go far. It's that "if" that matters the most, I think. Talent (and height and ability and all that) is a factor, but it's not THE factor. Hard work and determination will get you way further than raw talent, and nowhere is that more true than in the publishing business.

10 Fun Things About Me:
1) As a mom of four, playing the piano is my therapy. Seriously. All my stress drains out onto the keys like magic.
2) I can't stand PB&J sandwiches, but I love peanut butter cookies.
3) I don't get the whole Monty Python thing. Never have.
4) I love decorating my house with crisp, clean white. When it comes to my clothes, though, I like dark colors. Go figure.
5) I was born in Utah, but spent my childhood in southern CA, OR, and WA before moving back in my teen years. Good thing, because I met my adorable husband in high school.
6) I owned a horse in high school. Horses are much more fun than people sometimes.
7) I was also on the swim team in high school. Unfortunately, I don't know how to swim for fun anymore.
8) I spent four months living in Romania in college. Ask me about it sometime--I have some great stories.
9) I started writing in college, producing creative nonfiction and magazine articles. From there I moved on to journalism, inspirational nonfiction, and finally science fiction and fantasy. Pretty much the only stuff I don't write are westerns and paranormal romance, but who knows?
10) My food weaknesses include carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and, even more often, chocolate-banana shakes. Try one before you form an opinion, because seriously, that stuff is a little piece of heaven on earth.
