In North for Christmas, Ruby Jeavon certainly has her heart set on an engagement. It's the first step in creating the family she's always wanted. But things go slightly off course and instead of flying to Italy with her boyfriend, Ruby heads out of town to work as an elf in Nashville. Even though she's far away from her dream, she's about to discover the magic of a Nashville Christmas through the eyes of North Foxwell, her fellow elf and a Christmas expert. Even though North struggles with his own Christmas ghosts, Ruby manages to bring new light to his life. Can Ruby let go of her dream to find what her heart truly desires? Only time--at the North Pole--will tell.
My Review:
It's a lot easier to follow the wish of a heart than it is to set it aside and think of others and that's just the lesson that Ruby learns when her mother sends her to work as an elf for the holidays. Ruby is yearning to go to Italy for Christmas, so her long-time boyfriend can finally propose. But when does life work out as planned? Ruby is hard-working and no stranger to digging in and showing determination to get what she wants. In fact, she's kind of a snob at first.
North is also working as an elf for the holidays. His harden heart needs to find forgiveness and there's no better way to speed that along than to serve. North is a great character. He's so good with his special needs brother, with the many children who come to see Santa, and with the various North Pole employees, but there are still a few walls that need to come down. He's so kind, but full of pride and really knows how to hold a grudge.
There's something magical about Christmas that can change hearts. Just think of the Grinch--his heart and mindset changed with realizations about others and himself and these are similar lessons that North and Ruby learn for themselves. I love stories with growth and transformation, in positive ways, and this is the perfect story to warm any heart, especially with the holidays approaching.
