My Review:
Have you ever read a book that just strikes a chord with you? This one did just that for me! When Becca and Carson first meet, and fall in love, they are young. She's barely 18 and at the moment, alone in the world. Who does she turn to for advice about these runaway feelings? Her hairdresser. Uh...probably not the best person to give advice, considering she's on her sixth marriage and has a degree to practice psychology, but doesn't use it. Needless to say, this relationship went bad and all for crazy reasons. Fast forward seven years. Becca is a lawyer in her small home town and in a huge case, finds herself going up against none other than Carson--"He was one of the good guys. Even if he defended bad guys for a living." For a man who claimed to only give his heart away once, he's got some big decisions to make in the relationship department, considering that he's dating his boss's daughter.
I love a book about second chances, especially when the first chance was unresolved. The chemistry was leaping off the pages in flames, yet was clean. At first, I thought Carson was kind of shallow because he really seemed to focus on appearances, but my opinion changed as I got to know him better. I love the theme that sometimes what you think is reality isn't, especially when the whole story or reasoning behind a decision is cleared up. Becca learned a few lessons in this the hard way.
The big pluses for me are the characters, the romance, and the humor. Not only are Carson and Becca great, but there are a whole slew of quirky, fun, and entertaining characters, who were really brought to life. Like I mentioned before, the chemistry is incredible and the way Ms. Griffith uses descriptions really ignited it in my imagination. Again, the metaphors and analogies are well done and really added to the humorous situations and I found myself laughing quite a bit. The setting is so much fun! A ghost town? I really need to visit this place. A good romantic comedy has all of these elements, plus a little tension, and they were all tackled in a great way that left me thoroughly entertained and in love.
Content: I think there were one or two mild cuss words, but otherwise clean, as far as language goes; no violence; no religious elements; mild-moderate romance (kissing, one character tries to take things a step further, but it remains clean; great chemistry). Clean!

Jennifer Griffith studied French, German, Japanese, and a wee bit of Spanish in her school days. Her grandmother was Norwegian, and Jennifer grew up with lots of Scandinavian traditions floating around, including fabulous cardamom laced cookies called Krumkaker, made on a fancy waffle iron. However, she’d never dream of trying to teach someone any of those languages. And she might botch the cookies. Instead, she writes novels in English, drives her five kids a million places, and laughs with her husband.
