My Source: I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Description: Stop sacrificing to the idol of the perfect woman. “Body Image Breakthrough” cuts through the fad diets and pop psychology to find the root of women’s body image issues. Free yourself from negative body image and live each day as Heavenly Father intended, wrapped in the soul-healing beauty of the Lord.
My Review: I thought I had a pretty good image of myself, but after reading this book, I realize that I have a lot to work on, as most of us do. It's so easy in today's day and age to get caught up in what the world deems beautiful and perfect and in doing so, it's easy to neglect the truly important things in life--family, spirituality, and happiness.
Ms. Wightman made several very interesting points--how much time a day do you spend either thinking about your body (what's wrong with it, how to improve, etc) and trying to mold yourself into that impossible standard? I found that it's way too much time--at least, for me!
Another point that really stood out to me is the power and influence that I have as a mother. I get on kicks where I get obsessed about exercising and cutting out different things and then wonder why my daughter has issues with those same things.
With the Lord's help, we can makes changes--good changes. I loved the section on her obsession with chocolate. I was laughing out loud over that one, because that's so me. Each chapter has additional materials to study--story, questions, scriptures. I think this is a great resource!
