My Review: 4 Stars
I love that Mandy and Daniel knew each other as children, at a time when they each really needed a friend. The first meet as adults was kind of hilarious--and scary, funny, and crazy. This couple doesn't have an easy road. As they've grown, their paths have vastly differed and the one thing that brings them together is Daniel's grandfathers old, run-down mansion.
Lack of communication is prevalent in this story and it's almost like a tennis match, waffling back and forth between who is willing to talk and who isn't. Each are likable characters, for the most part, although their hesitance to trust and talk sometimes makes the reader feel otherwise for a minute. At least, that's how it was for me, and it happens over and over and over again.
Through all of the thick and heavy drama, there are some very sweet redeeming moments and those come when the walls drop, or in this case, the fences fall. I love the vulnerable situations and they really drew me into the story. Of course, the supporting cast is hilariously fun, fierce, and loyal! I'd love to see a few spin-offs result from this book (Candace for one). This is a fun addition to the Mansion set and is full of scandalous entertainment.
Content: mild romance (some light innuendo).
*I received a copy, which didn't influence my opinion in any way.*
