Can opposites really attract?
A robbery followed by the discovery of a forgery at a respected art gallery thrusts Chelsea Owens into the center of an investigation headed by Detective Sam Eldridge. The instant chemistry between the high-spirited aspiring curator and the tall, dark, brooding cop is a classic case of opposites attract.
Complications arise when Chelsea uncovers a connection to an unsolved art heist. Teaming up with Sam to find the stolen paintings ignites feelings that could lead to lasting love. But Sam isn't ready to move beyond the tragedy in his past, no matter how promising his future with Chelsea could be…

My Review: 4 Stars
A robbery is what forces a first meet between art gallery employee, Chelsea, and cop, Sam. The attraction is instantaneous, but the mystery and danger make it difficult for an easy romance to develop.
James always writes characters that are likable and situations that are gentle and sweet, even in the midst of theft and suspense. Sam is moving on from a tragic past, yet he's very stable, brave, and kind. I love how he works so hard to uncover the roots of the situation, even going as far as sacrificing his own desires. Chelsea is very dedicated to her career and hopes to advance, but she's a very nice girl and friendly to everyone. She doesn't suspect a soul when questioned, which shows how positively she thinks of those around her.
The word I'm going to use to describe this story overall is: gentle. The mystery is gentle, without any heart-pounding drama; the romance is gentle--sweet, but not overly dynamic chemistry and drama; the characters are gentle--the kind you want for neighbors. This is a perfect read to escape and enjoy your time spent in small town Camden Falls and it's exactly the kind of book that I was in the mood for.
Content: mild romance; very mild violence; mild language.
*I received a copy, which didn't influence my opinion in any way.*

I loved your review today. Gentle is exactly the kind of book I need to read right now as I'm trying to read a book that's way out of my comfort range for an author friend (too much casual and very graphic sex). Plus I love mysteries and police dramas, so this book is on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting, Danielle. If you do get a chance to read A PRICELESS FIND, I hope you will enjoy it! :)
Deletewhat a wonderful review. I love both of the covers, especially the little boy. I just want to hug him. I love gentle reads every once in a while. I have not read much in the way of mysteries, and would love to give it a go.
