Santa Maybe by Aubrey Mace

Santa Maybe

September 2009, 192 pages. My Rating: *****--5 Stars

Blurb: Dear Santa,
I've been a good girl this year. (Well . . . pretty good.) I have a nice life and there's only one thing that I really want one thing that's missing. If you happen to have an extra one lying around your workshop, I would really like a husband. I promise to take good care of him.
Love, Abbie

With a successful bakery to run, super cute nieces and nephews to spoil, and plenty of good friends to keep her company, Abbie s not about to start crying over the fact that she s doesn't have a boyfriend to spend Christmas with. But when her sister convinces her to write a note to Santa, Abbie has no idea that a little Christmas magic is about to land her the man of her dreams. Or rather, that man is about to land smack dab on the floor in front of her Christmas tree with no memory of how he got there.

Now Abbie and Ben have to figure out where he came from, who he really is, and if he's actually available.

Aubrey Mace, the award-winning author of Spare Change, has done it again! This light-hearted holiday romance is sure to please even the most cynical scrooge. Told with humor, sweetness, and Aubrey's signature wit, this is one Christmas story that will keep you smiling all year round.

My Review: This is exactly the type of Christmas book I love to read (not one of those depressing ones). Abbie, a single 30 year old, asks for a man for Christmas and finds one under her tree. I giggled through it and loved the romantic story. It's one that I could see being a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. I mean really--Christmas. Romance. What more could you want?!

I don't know what it is that's so sweet and magical about this story, but I just adore it! I've read it every single year since it was released (I just finished my 5th time around) and love it just as much each time. She is so witty and fun. Though she claims to be done with men, I think she's got a tender side to herself that she's bound and determined to protect. I love the bakery and all the yummy desserts that are mentioned. There are parts that make me want to shake Abbie, yet I can completely understand why she wants to protect her heart. She's been burned so many time, so why would she just hand her heart out to have it broken again?

I love Ben! What a sweet guy! The chemistry and banter between the two of them is adorable and tender. Even though Ben has "amnesia," he is so attentive to Abbie and tries so hard to get her out of her box.

Such a cute story.

Content: kissing, very brief religious section that isn't preachy at all. Clean.
