My Review: 5 Stars
I've loved this series and have wondered about Bree, Braden's sister. I don't think this series needs to be read in order, as each book is about a different character, but you do get some background into each character if you read them all.
Bree has a stalker and he's ready to be released from prison. With the deaths of her parents, a divorce, and two young children to raise, she doesn't have the time or energy to deal with this guy. With the help of her brother, Braden, she goes into hiding...and finds a whole new set of problems. Her bodyguard, Greyson, is an old acquaintance and friend of her brother's and he's very distracting--in a good way.
I love watching Bree blossom. In the midst of her hardships, she still has a tender heart and to watch the walls crack and allow her true, fun personality to shine through is heartening. She's a very sweet character with a few prickles that emerge occasionally. Greyson is wonderful! Handsome, brave, strong, and a protector at all costs, he draws a reader in and causes her to cheer him on, yearning for him to find success in every aspect of his life.
The suspense is ever-present, nagging on the edges of the reader's mind, and I was constantly looking over my shoulder, even while swooning. I love the way this author uses words to draw vivid images in my mind while I'm reading. The descriptions are done is such a unique way that really melted over my soul and connected me with everything--the plot, the characters, and the setting. After reading this book, I'm craving a big, juicy Honeycrisp apple, for sure! This book is like the apples that play such a big part in the story--sweet and tart moments that meld together into the perfect treat.
Content: mild romance (very mild innuendo, kissing--some a little steamy, but still clean); mild violence; mild language (cowboy swearing). Clean!
