My Review: I enjoyed the way this story was based on an actual event but completely had a life of its own. Emma and Jake never would have met had it not been for Hurricane Sandy, yet their lives became much more meaningful because of that devastation. Good things really can come out of bad situations.
Emma is a strong woman and doesn't need to rely on a man. She's just gone through a breakup and although he can't let her go, she realizes what she needs in her life and he's not it. She's strong enough to stand her ground. I like a strong woman, but I also like it when there is a good balance between being independent and leaning on someone and that's just what she finds with Jake. Jake made a very bad mistake with his former marriage, but is determined to be the best father possible to his little girl, Shelley. He's very kind and caring, almost to a fault, especially when dealing with his ex-wife. He's just the type of man that Emma needs and I loved the chemistry that is felt between the two of them.
Emma and Jake have good friends to support them and I would have liked to see a little more with those relationships. As for the romance, a person can't always choose when and where to fall in love, but this happened really fast. In fact, I think a lot of their issues stemmed from not having that trust developed beforehand. I almost felt like they were picking petals off of a flower because every other chapter was like--"S/he loves me, s/he loves me not."
That said, I liked watching things develop, especially watching them recognize what matters, and seeing their reactions and actions towards their situation. It was a fun journey with a mixture of Southern charm and New York hustle.
Content: Moderately clean (kissing, innuendo, fade to black intimacy with no details); mild language; moderate violence (descriptions of abuse that were matter-of-fact but not graphic, drugs/alcohol). Clean for a more mature reader.

Mya O’Malley was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City, where she currently lives with her husband, daughter and three step-daughters. The family also consists of two boxers; Destiny and Dolce and a ragdoll cat named Colby. Mya earned an undergraduate degree in special education and a graduate degree in reading and literacy. She works as a special education teacher and enjoys making a difference in the lives of her students. The story revolves around the idea of a utility worker from Georgia falling in love with a woman in New York. Mya’s passion is writing; she has been creating stories and poetry since she was a child. Mya spends her free time reading just about anything she can get her hands on. She is a romantic at heart and loves to create stories with unforgettable characters. Mya likes to travel; she has visited several Caribbean Islands, Mexico and Costa Rica. Mya is currently working on her sixth novel.
