Who We Are
Busy Bees Publishing
What started off as a college assignment by Anna-Christina has developed into this fun, new project which then became Busy Bees Publishing in 2012 along with Adie Hardy. Whilst working on their first audio story March of the Ants, they searched online for other audio stories similar to theirs, yet could find nobody combining original classical music with original children's stories and sound effects. They decided to invent their own genre and call their creations "Musical Audio Stories." These stories can be enjoyed by children aged 3-7 and are of great enjoyment to the blind. They can also be a useful learning tool for children with impaired vision or vision difficulties.
How do these audio stories benefit parents?
Not only are these audio books fantastic fun, they are great for giving you a short break in your busy schedule. They help long car journeys fly by and aid bonding with your child through acting out the stories together. These stories are a great way to allow your children to use their own imagination, acting out the stories, drawing how they imagine the characters to be, singing, dancing and joining in, stimulating their creative senses. One of the things that makes our audio stories special from others you may have heard, is the strong themed original classical music behind the narration. Unlike other audio books, the music continues throughout and is an essential part of the stories. Most are orchestral based but at times we include other instruments, such as the guitar in Johnny No Cash. We also sometimes don't use the traditional orchestral layout in order to create interesting panning effects.
Characters
All of our characters are based on insects and animals and their adventures. The narration is voiced by Anna-Christina and most of the characters’ voices we do ourselves but we are fortunate enough to have special guests do voice-overs for us every now and then. Characters really come to life when the actors voice them.
Story
Each story has an original theme. Some stories were written to fit an existing piece of music and others were written first, with the music composed afterwards to fit the storyline. There's no real set pattern in how stories are written but we do try to instil positive messages in each one.
Sound FX
Sound effects really add to the atmosphere of each adventure and we strive to create movement as much as possible. We include traditional Foley methods, as an example a popular cheese based snack was used for the sound of the rock moving in the story March of The Ants.

March of the Ants Review:
This is a delightful story that really engages a child's imagination! I wish that I would have these around when my kids were little. The way that the story is told in a sing-song, rhyming way with lots of fun music, is fantastic! The voices are fun and really bring the characters to life. A very enjoyable way to entertain kids, especially those ages 3-7.
