Christmastime is full of traditions, especially in the Buckley family. With their home perfectly trimmed for the Christmas season it is now time to choose a family the four Buckley brothers along with mom and dad will secretly "Elve". This year Mom has decided on the Hagbarts, and according to the Buckley boys they are the meanest bullies at their school. Eleven-year-old Matthew can hardly stand it. By day the Hagbarts torture the Buckley brothers into submission, and by night the Buckleys drop of thoughtful Christmas gifts and treats to their sworn enemies. What will happen when Matthew is faced with a choice of ultimate revenge or doing good to others? The Christmas Project is a heartwarming comedy the whole family will enjoy.

My Review: 5 Stars

Having grown up in a fairly large family, I can say that we were best friends and worst enemies and that's exactly how the Buckley boys seem. I love how they compete, fight, and pull boyish pranks, yet they have each others backs and they come together as a family to show some kindness to their enemies.

The Hagbart family is mean and they are big bullies. However, it's a life lesson to learn that you can't always take things by face value. There are often reasons why people act the way they do and I loved watching this family figure things out.

I love the way the story is told from one of the brother's points-of-view--kind of as a narrator when he's older, looking back to this time. I love the relationship these boys have with each other, with their dad, and with their mom. Yes, the parents are married, but they have different perspectives on their boys and it really adds a well-rounded dimension to the story to get both points-of-view. I also love the new neighbors and the way they fit in with this family.

From first love, to humorous situations, to interesting characters, to sibling camaraderie, this touching, entertaining story is perfect for all ages. It's a great way to get in the mood for Christmas and to really remember what it means to show true charity to others.
